This was our first time to Iceland and the information provided by Kristin and Oddur was extremely helpful. The apartment is very well equipped and is very close to restaurants and cafes. All within walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The apartment was clean, the hosts were communicative and gave a lot of helpful information about the neighborhood, and the apartment was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see! The building was very quiet; we couldn’t hear our neighbors at any point, and having a washer/dryer was very helpful. We had a great visit and would definitely stay here again.

An unexpected pleasure

Oddur & Kristin were one of the best set of hosts we’ve ever encountered on VRBO. The check in info arrived right on time. Instructions were perfectly clear & place was exactly as shown on the listing. The only hiccup we had was that prior to even booking, I had informed them of my chemical sensitivities and asked if they were fragrance free. Somehow that request got lost. When we walked in the scent of room freshener & scented laundry detergent was impossible for me. We messaged him on the app & went out looking for alternate arrangements. When we got radio silence to our message, we assumed we were on our own and went back to the apartment to pack up. There were Oddur & Kristin already re-cleaning the entire apartment & changing bedding! No questions asked, just what can they do to make it better. He even bought fragrance free detergent for me.To make things even MORE incredible, we had come with a tiny amount of information regarding Doug’s great grandmother who was from Iceland. We mentioned it to Oddur hoping that we maybe would get some basic info on the family name. Less than 24 hours later he was back with pages of information showing the family lineage back to the 1600’s and that - get this - Doug & Oddur were 7th cousins!! We are still processing all that information & passing it along to Doug’s family. But cousins 7x removed….. Oddur, we’re not expecting any birthday invitations in Iceland. But if you’re ever out this way, we are here to return the hospitality.

Great location in the capitol. The apartment had everything we needed for our visit to Iceland. The hosts were very responsive to any questions and had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do.

Great Location and Property

Kristin was very helpful with tips and almost instantly responsive. The apartment was a truly great location, very comfortable, nicely decorated and a very functional kitchen which was very important for me as I love to cook. We were able to walk almost everywhere. I love the safety for walking at night also. The garage was a wonderful bonus as was the elevator. We had everything we needed. It was also nice to be able to do our laundry before flying home.

We stayed two nights at the start of our Iceland trip and it was perfect. Close to food, sightseeing, and transportation. Such a great little apartment too! Very clean and comfortable!! Definitely a good spot!

Excellent Stay

The apartment is exactly as advertised - spacious and comfortable - we slept and relaxed quite well.The kitchen was fully equipped, though we only at left-overs via the microwave. The shower is very strong, and hot water is plentiful - you"ll appreciate that after any chilly/raining dates. Reykjavik seems to have two city centers critical to visitors - the old harbor area, and the streets along Laekjargata. The apartment is very close by the old harbor piers for whale-watching tours, great seafood, and the #15 bus stop is a convenient pickup site for tours out of town. The Laekjarsgata area has a few lively perdestrian streets with lively bars and restaurants. Pretty easy to get get anywhere within 5 to 13 minutes - just DO NOT rely on Google Walk! Kristin was a dream hostess, responding to our many inquiries promptly, as well as her comprhensive summary of local attraction, tours, travel advice and dining recommendations. VERSUS HOTELS: Did too much researching of hotels in the mid to upper scale - seems all hotel rooms were smaller than we were comfortable with, and the furniture looked like minimalist Ikea ads. Lastly - our flight landed at 6:30 AM, as do many direct flights from the U.S., and we arrived at the apt by 7:30. If your budget allows inquire about renting the prior night, so you can get some sleep, rather than wandering the streets until mid-afternoon.
