"Hotel Nordjulos in Raufarhöfn is an absolute gem—cozy, clean, and quaint, with comfortable rooms that make for a restful night. But what truly sets it apart is the people. Holmsteinn (“Steinny”) has a heart of gold—so kind, charismatic, and generous. He sat with us to chat, shared stories of his family, his wife, and his grandson (who proudly carries his name), and even offered us the chance to see their fishing boat. His twin sister, Guna (forgive me if I’ve misspelled it), was just as welcoming. The kindness and sincerity they showed reflects the very best of a small village community, and as travelers, it was incredibly comforting and memorable. We left not just with a stay, but with a story to treasure. When we return to Raufarhöfn, there’s no question we’ll stay here again—and we’ll be eager to hear about Steinny and his wife’s next trip back to Spain!
