We did not know lodge rooms were community bathrooms only, she said it was in the fine print that we had missed. So she kindly put us in one of their cabins with a bathroom. It was more like staying in a farm shack than a rustic cabin. The carpet was a bio-hazard it was so filthy, shelf above the closet(we wanted to put supplies there)was dirty and thick with dust. Nothing sealed, not door, around window air conditioner. The bath faucet leaked continuously. I am sure their business has been hit hard by Covid but this cabin was expensive, so why over the years has it not been updated? Great location but better to stay in your own tent.

A Dump in a Good Location

Pros: Trees. Creek. Friendly front desk staff. Nice restaurant across the road.
Cons: Owners need to invest in the conditions of the cabins and not just the gift shop.
Location: Near to Crater Lake National Park, a nice creek, big trees, and lava tubes. That's about it.
As the Lodge and other accommodations inside of Crater Lake National Park fill up way in advance, the next closest place to stay is this one--unfortunately for us. While the front desk person was pleasant, and the gift shop and restaurant across the road are fine, Cabin #20 was an absolute horror film (think the Bates Motel). Obviously, the owners think that $250 per night is not enough income for them to change the brown, shag, stained carpet in 40 years, nor the hard, creaky mattresses, the extremely cheap window coverings, thin, plastic shower curtain (think prison issue), one sliver of soap, Goodwill-era extremely minimal furnishings, no touch of charm whatsoever. I would have enjoyed the historic era of the cabin(s) themselves if they were at least maintained and cared for, but these are not. I didn't even want to take off my shoes, and this made me uncomfortable and angry, rather than able to enjoy my stay. It's clear that since this is the only place to stay near to the lake (if you don't have those inside park accommodations), they know they can fill the place up regardless of whether they put one dime into it. I did appreciate the 12-cup coffee maker (rare these days at hotels), but the corkscrew in the drawer was broken, the filthy, windows with peeling paint wouldn't open...What can I say, it was just GROSS! Oh, and we could only get Wi-Fi outside and zero cell service. In our case, we needed those things because we also had business to handle on this trip.

Rustic it is.

Pros: It was a blast from the past. Beautiful location with a stream running alongside the property. The room rate was relatively inexpensive.
Cons: It is a 1920's lodge, and that is how they built them. Stairway carpets a bit worn, windows could use cleaning, but I doubt this place generates $$
Location: It is somewhat close to Crater Lake, and Rouge River Gorge across the street.
If you desire to experience a lodge stay from the 1920's, this is the place. We had a tiny room, with a small sink in the corner. Wondering why there was a sink with towels smack dab in the room, I looked for the bathroom, only to discover THE BATHROOM IS DOWN THE HALL AND SHARED WITH ALL THE ROOMS ON THE SECOND FLOOR. I don't remember seeing this fact in the other reviews, which is why I emphasized it here. It was a trip into the past! The walls are all wood paneled, which is cool, but as in the 1920's, no TV, no phone in the room, no cell service nor reliable WiFi, no elevator, no closet, no adequate lighting, There was a very small table with one chair, not a comfortable place to read, the bed being the only place to stretch out. There were chairs/table outside, but it was raining. The room did have a small microwave, a refrigerator that froze everything it, and a coffee pot. The little store offered a few items you could microwave, if you like burritos, so bring your own food. There was a tiny diner across the street, limited in menu selections, only open to 8 pm. Just be aware you will be sharing a bathroom if you book a room.

Worst hotel stay ever!!!!!

Arrived at site, cabin #22 the yard was dug up. The neighboring cabin had trash everywhere. The "authentic log cabin" was log at all just a stick built house with decaying siding. Outside trash can was full. Inside, no central air or heat, just a space heater. The window coverings did not cover the entire window (every window) people outside could see inside. No wifi, no cell service, no tv, no DVD, no books to read, and the only means of communication was a pay phone about a block away. Mattresses were probably purchased about 1950 and the bathtub had mold in it. Except for the bathroom, none of the interior doors latched. And all this for only $269 per night!!! I have stayed in hotels and cabins all over the US and I have never stayed in any that were this high priced nor any that were as disappointing!!!!! If you ever stay at this place , be sure to go look at the room or cabin FIRST
