We booked this property for a three-night stay but left after the first night because we no longer felt safe staying there. Throughout our short stay, there were multiple incidents that raised serious safety concerns. Overnight, there was prolonged yelling and screaming coming from the neighboring property that sounded like a possible domestic disturbance. The following day, there were two separate police arrests immediately outside the property, including one that temporarily closed the road in front of the house.Because of these events, we contacted the host to let them know we were ending our stay early and securing alternative accommodations. The host initially told us we would receive a refund for the unused nights. However, that refund was never processed. Despite multiple follow-up attempts by both us and VRBO, the host has stopped responding entirely.While we understand that a host cannot control everything that happens in a neighborhood, we feel that guests should have an accurate representation of both the property and the surrounding area. While the interior of the property was accurately represented, the surrounding neighborhood was not and did not feel safe for our family. This combined with the lack of communication or follow through regarding the promised refund made an already disappointing experience significantly worse. Based on our experience, we would strongly recommended against anyone booking this property or with this host.
