Garbage outside window. Interior worn down. HOT breakfast was a waffle warmed in a toaster. Ice machine broke. Woould not recommend

While the staff were nice as they could be the hotel itself was awful! The pool is the biggest case of false advertising I’ve ever experienced. The water was foggy and the pool was so small compared to how it looked in photos. The lobby seems cared for but the carpets are in bad shape and the rooms are even worse. The tub was full of rust and black spots on caulking, the pillow cases had black marks on them, the room was musty if we didn’t keep the air constantly running and the smoke detector in our room was missing with the wires exposed. Then in the next room there was an alarm clock that went off constantly from 6:30am to 7:30am and woke up my two kids. It was a very disappointing experience but the distance from the zoo was short so that was nice.

First room given really had its problems form door failure of lock and impossible to open to dirty floors. After given another room, room was fairly clean just don’t go in the hallways. Good thing management was nice and friendly. Lots to be done to property.

The entire hotel was under construction and this was not noted when booking the hotel. Our door barely shut. You could hear quiet conversation in the hall as you walked past other rooms. The staff was grumpy. Hotel breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced. We had to ask multiple times to get anything to eat. Pool not properly ventilated. Kids and I all had burning eyes when we got back to the room. Check in desk was disordered. Lobby and halls not air conditioned very well. I would not recommend staying at this location.

It was very conveniently located. We were in from out of town for a birthday celebration at the zoo. We were not only close to the zoo, but enjoyed three nights dining downtown at a variety of restaurants and all within 10-15 minutes. For didn't likes: All the available employees were outside smoking when we arrived and had to wait to check in. Then, nearly for the duration, smokers were right outside the two main doors.

I was ready to write a great review for this hotel. After seeing other reviews of a horrible smoke smell and unfriendly staff, I was very surprised to not smell any smoke anywhere, and have a great interaction with Carol while checking in. The hotel is right across the street from the zoo and the price couldn’t be beat. I didn’t expect a five star hotel by any means and overall everything was great EXCEPT that this was the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. There is no sound barrier whatsoever between the two floors. I heard every time someone walked around above us. There was also 6 different occasions from 11:30pm-6:30am where someone with a super loud car system was in the parking lot just hanging out. We could hear every conversation at the front desk since we were located right behind it. The worst part was when the dumpster outside was emptied at 5am. It was located right outside of our room and sounded like a bomb going off. Which sucks because the bed was crazy comfortable. If you do decide to stay here, request NOT to stay in room 101, and ask to be on the second floor on the opposite side of the hotel where the dumpster is located.

Nothing really special about the property other than its proximity to the Henry Dorley Zoo. The property is maintained well and looks good for its age.....
