Bait and Switch Nightmare! False Advertising

Do NOT be fooled by the pictures online. What you see is definitely NOT what you get. The room we were given was NOTHING like the advertised photos. The beds were ridiculously small – I felt like I was sleeping on a cot! Honestly, I've slept more comfortably in my car. Beyond the misleading room, the AC was a complete nightmare. It only blasted at full power. Forget trying to find a comfortable temperature, it was either freezing cold or nothing at all. We were forced to turn it off and swelter, then back on and freeze. But the issues didn't stop there. They couldn't even provide fresh toilet paper! Seriously? Every decent hotel I've ever stayed at replaces the roll with a fresh one. Instead, we were left with a nearly empty roll. Disgusting. Before our arrival, I had specifically requested a room near the water/ice vending machine. Apparently, that request was completely ignored. We were stuck at the far end of the hall, making late-night ice runs a frustrating trek. And to top it all off, the toilet! It felt like it was going to overflow every time we flushed. You had to flush multiple times and pray it wouldn't back up. This hotel was a complete disaster from start to finish. Save yourself the headache (and the potential plumbing disaster) and book elsewhere. One star is generous – I wish I could give it zero.

Tiny bathroom and sink area, difficult to get by beds. Horrible smell which got into coats. Had to dry clean to get rid of it. Swimming pool was empty. Breakfast was minimal and poor quality except for yogurt and old bagels. Pet fee was as much as my groomer on a daily basis. I had expected the Day inn in the starved Rock area to be much better!!

For the price it was what I expected. Breakfast was exceptionally nice and accommodating. Rooms were fairly clean and noise was limited. My only disappointment was I wanted a hotel with a pool for my kids but it was broke however we played at an indoor water park near there for the day. Great stay and highly recommended if you are in the area and want to explore Starved Rock area.

Nice room, remodeling is in progress. Updates are nice. Breakfast is just waffle machine, packaged muffins, yogurt. Still thought it was a value stay.

The property was ok for the most part. It’s close to food, gas, and attractions at a low cost. Many of the staff were very friendly, but one employee seemed overly curious about my son. I don’t know why she felt the need to stand in the freezing doorway to watch him go to our car. l travel A LOT so I expected this property to be average, but I did not expect small splatters of what looked like vomit on the back of the toilet and on the side of the tub. Housekeeping did not visit once during our two night stay, but their cart was near the room all day and into the night. I guess it’s self-serve towels and supplies? Overall, our Days Inn experience was mediocre.

The only reason on property conditions that i gave it 3 stars was because it is under construction and i hope the painting is not completed in the room i was in. It needed a little more attention to details around trim, fixtures, etc. Not a big deal overall.
