Room was not furnished as advertised. WiFi was terrible. Some sort of construction during day; noisy pipes all night.

Poor customer service

I am not in a wheel chair, but it is very difficult for me to climb stairs, I asked for a down stairs room, when, I got there they gave me an upstairs,, I told the gentleman at the counter that, I ordered a down stairs room, he said it doesn't say that here you need too call Tavelocity, so I did. I told them that gentlemen I spoke to when I made my reservation said he put it in the system that it would be downstairs no problem. (which was a month prior). They tried to find another hotel for me but boulder not. I asked them to give me a discount, but they said that they wouldn't because I did it on my Mobil phone, and that the person at the motel wouldn't do anything either, made me feel like I was trying to pull one over on them and I wasn't. I would hate to see if I were in a wheel chair, obviously it would not matter if I were. I will never use Travelocity or that motel (Econo Lode) ever again and have put you both on yelp.

No chance of me staying there again

Pros: The price was okay given that it was a holiday weekend.
Cons: The room needs to be remodeled: the walls need to be stripped of the old wallpaper, the walls patched and fresh paint applied.
Location: It's location is fine, other than access to the entrance. Not sure what's close by as we were visiting family.
When a hotel or motel has an average of 1 to 2 stars there's usually a reason for it. To begin with, getting into the hotel is difficult. One way in and out, and depending on the direction you're coming from you have to make an inconvenient U-turn to get there. There's no place to park to check in, and the lobby, if you can call it that, was tiny. Yes, back in the 50's and 60's this was commonplace for a motel, but this is 2015. Anyways, the room was marked as non-smoking, but reeked of cigarette smoke from the minute we walked in. I've stayed in hotels with "smoking" rooms and those still smelled fresher than this place. The walls in the room were clearly painted over old textured wallpaper and the imprint of items that had once been attached to the walls were still visible. The bathroom was even worse with a roughly patched wall, cracks in the flooring and a huge crack in the side of the whirlpool tub. Luckily, it didn't impeded the use of the tub, however, it was very unprofessional to have a room in that state of neglect.

Good value, pleasant stay

We felt very comfortable staying here and felt like it was a great value for our money. The room was clean and pleasant. We had accidentally booked a smoking room, but the front desk staff were nice enough to move us to a non-smoking room and even upgraded us to a king-sized bed. We were able to make good use of the refrigerator and the microwave. We felt like we had plenty of space for the three of us and all of our luggage. There are lots of stores and places to eat nearby. The only complaint we had was that it was a little difficult to find the Econo Lodge and we had to drive around a lot until we finally found it (this is because it is on East Castro Valley Blvd. and we were on Castro Valley Blvd.), and when we called the hotel to get directions it was very difficult for us to understand the people who answered the phone, and for them to understand us. They were unable to give us clear, understandable directions. We called several times to get more information from them and we talked to two different people before we were able to find it. Throughout our stay, we didn't feel like we could ask them for directions to anywhere else. Thankfully, the Econo Lodge comes equipped with free wireless internet service so we just looked up directions on the internet. Lastly, the Econo Lodge serves a continental breakfast which is nice, but consists mostly of donuts, coffee, white bread for toast, and juice, so we ended up having breakfast in our room so that we could make healthier, more hearty choices in food.

We changed rooms 3 times trying to get a decent one. We settled for the 3rd room, but the door had been broken into so the chain latch would not keep anyone from entering, the heater was hard to keep running, the smoke alarm was missing and the light switch didn't work. The location was a short drive to the Oakland Airport and close to public transportation, but this is the worst hotel we have ever had.\n\nThere was a breakfast. (donuts)

Decent Enough

You get what you pay for, right? I'd still go back though.\n\nThe upside: the staff was friendly and quite helpful during my stay, and the rooms were clean (don't mistake my review below, they were VERY clean). Ample parking, continental breakfast every morning, and the pool and hottub were working and available. The room included a mini-fridge and a microwave.\n\nThe downside - other guests ignoring the pool/hottub hours (screaming children at 7am? Just try to get back to sleep!), no in-room coffee pot, and the overall room condition. The screen on my window was torn and hanging (quite obviously, this wasn't just a little hole), the emergency-telephone continually fell off the wall in the bathroom, the carpet was stained, and there were water spots on the ceiling. \n\nFYI - you can NOT pull into the parking lot of the motel next door and cut over, despite the ajoined parking lots (this was a little confusing, as they seemed like they would be associated) because the joined area is blocked off. Also, the left turn lane at the light goes into a sidewalk about 20 feet early, not *the* driveway, or even *a* driveway.
