Hotel was empty and its peak season! It definately had the feeling the hotel was seeing hard times (tired and minimal staff). Things were not so ticketty boo - awnings ripped, rust in bathroom tiles, restaurant dark and not inviting at all, few staff, bar in the evening absolutely dead (even at sunset drinks) with no effort made by staff to make it enticing, swimming pool area not made up with cushions or towels etc. However the swimming pool is lovely, the garden / landscaping are lovely and the location on the beach is good but no where near as good as Sanur or Uluwatu region. The beach is full of motor sports (jet ski's, banana boats, parasails w speedboats etc) so not exactly peaceful. You can walk for about 15 mins along the sea front through other hotels but after that you hit construction sites or rubbish dumps. The area is full of large bus loads of packaged tourist staying in large hotels. The restaurants outside the hotel are average. Again nothing great compared to Jimbaran, Sanur or Seminyak.
I would say its not in the best area in Bali to stay at all. We won't return to the hotel or the area and I certainly couldn't imaging paying full price for the hotel. We got it last minute so value for money was just ok.
