Nice view and proximity to the Bay front shops and restaurants. The unit itself was extremely basic, dated and adequately comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the unit was very clean.

A disappointing checkout

Pros: Location right on Yaquina Bay. Comfortable, well-furnished rooms.
Cons: The checkout procedure.
Location: The bay front has many restaurants and other tourist attractions, plus fishing opportunities.
The facilities were fine. They had an "Excellent" rating going until the checkout. The clerk wanted to change us for our say, and I told them we'd already paid through Travelocity. [ From your confirmation, 5/16/15: Travelocity. Price Summary: Total $xxx.xx; Deposit processed upon booking, $xxx.xx; Balance due at hotel, $0.00 .] The clerk argued with me, insisting that they don't do business that way. I told them that I'd paid once, and was not going to pay twice. I said that their business arrangement with Travelocity was not my concern. He finally let us go. That experience tainted an otherwise excellent visit.

Turned Away

We had a reservation but were turned away when we arrived because they did not have an available unit that would allow my little dog. So don't believe their advertisement that dogs are allowed. They made us another reservation at a hotel next to the highway on the other side of the bridge which was somewhat of a drive into town. It was comfortable enough but not what we had planned for our vacation.

Newport's best kept secret

We just stumbled across The Landing. It is a wonderful place. The view of the bay and the bridge is fantastic. The room was beautiful and spacious. Being right on the bay was great We will return.

A fantastic little secret - tucked into the bay.

The Landing at Newport is one of the best properties on the Oregon coast and may people do not know it is a wonderful coastal view property! Balconies that you can sit out on all night long, with a beautiful view of the bridge, marina, and ocean in the background. Oh, I almost forgot...its a niffty hike down to the warf and warf shops too! My room had a fully usable kitchen with marble countertops, a wonderful fire place, and very cozy furnishings. A very clean and comfortable place with all the extras of home. The staff was very pleasant to us and were happy to help us with all aspects of our adventure. We were able to book a quick fishing trip at the deep sea fishing place that operates right next door. Life doesen't get any better than this!
