Nice hotel and staff. Breakfast was a disappointment. The fruit on the tray was not very fresh and even showed issues as to wilted greens, brown spots on the apples and in general not very appealing. A little to much self service for my liking.

Getaway

Pros: Ambience
Cons: Wish the bed was a bit more comfortable.
Location: Within walking distance of shops, Boardwalk and restaurants. They had a Spanish Tall Ship at Boardwalk which was a treat.
Was looking for a getaway night in Newburyport. It was my first time at the Garrison Hotel and I was pleased. Quiet room. Updated bathroom. After a day in the sun, it was pleasant to refresh myself at the Garrison. Plenty of room to move around. Within walking distance of shops, Boardwalk and restaurants. Complementary breakfast in the Tea Room was a plus as I was able to order a hot meal from the menu.

Quiet, clean, and classy

From the afternoon tea and sweets, to the lovely room and outstanding made to order breakfast, this hotel specializes in attention to detail. The staff is helpful, but not overbearing - they give you space. The food was delicious and the lobby and guest rooms are clean and intersting - brick accent walls, all the charm of an old building with the all of the modern comforts one would hope for.

Great hotel!

I normally do not write reviews on hotels. I recently stayed at the Garrison on a business trip. I was blown away with how accommodating this hotel was. They had everything I needed, business center, gym, restaurant and bar, full ironing board, and dry cleaning services. I almost felt as though the company made a mistake when I walked into the lobby because this is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at for a business trip.

Wonderful Stay

I recently traveled to Newburyport to visit my daughter who lives in town. Usually I stay at my daughter's home but since I recently gained a grandchild, their guest room has become a nursery. I chose to stay at the Garrison Inn because I always travel with my small dog and needed a pet friendly hotel. The rate at this hotel is very reasonable considering its location and the vast amount of services they provide to their guests. Upon check in I found the staff to be extremely pleasant, helpful and knowable of the town. The room itself was very clean and quite cozy. The bathroom was much bigger than anticipated. I was surprized to find a heat lamp which I use in my own home. The staff was nice enough to let my daughter join me for breakfast in which we both found delightful. On my last night at the Garrison my daughter and I enjoyed a high tea service. I haven’t had high tea since I was a little girl but everything was prepared just as I remembered it down to the raspberry jam and home-made scones. I enjoyed a very lovely stay and since I will be visiting my daughter more often to vist my new grand daughter, I will only be staying at the Garrison Inn from now on.
