This Howard Johnson was fantastic! The pool, while not heated, was delightful and very clean. The staff was wonderful and very friendly every time we had to interact with them. But what I liked best was the diner on the property, literally share the parking lot. The location is also directly across the street from a really cute shopping area that had great book stores and other cool shops. Also super close to the aquarium! 10 out of 10 would stay again!

This is a convenient stop to visit Aquarium and Olde Mistic Village. The room was fine and had some touches other more expensive hotels on our road trip did not have. It’s more of a travel lodge/motel but was good for our needs. Staff was helpful and obliging.

The room had no towels or soap in the bathroom. Lighting was horrible. No creamer for the "free coffee" or sweetener and we were there for 3 days. Never emptied the trash. We stayed there 3 years ago and had a wonderful time. Will never stay there again.

This property needs a major face lift. Carpets dirty in hallway, smelled like weed in hallways room had a couple of flys and fruit flies. Toilet didnt flush properly but they did come right ip and fix. Staff was very nice and friendly wouldn’t stay there agaon

The hallway looked like a psych ward and the carpets all around are filthy and have a mildew smell! A couple of cockroaches were seen and flies already inside the room! The front desk was friendly but I noticed when other customers were trying to check-in they disappeared and had to call to get his attention. Towels were missing and it’s hard to get them if you need them! I will not recommend this hotel and they need major overhaul since the surrounding area “Mystic Village” and other attractions are walking distance it’s a shame that this hotel is filthy and uncared for!

I’m sorry to say, we will never stay here again. Technically we still haven’t stayed because after checking in and finding a dead small cockroach on the bathroom floor, the shower curtain rod nearly falling out of the wall on us, the robe hook dangling off the wall, and the ancient slider door cracked open and hard to close, we booked another hotel and asked for a refund before we left. I’m usually not one to complain or write a bad review, and the standard of where we might stay is generally average for what you would hope for after paying $278 for a room to be close to downtown Mystic, CT. However, this was unfortunately not a place we felt safe or comfortable staying. Expedia was very helpful in assisting with filing my dispute and asking Howard Johnson for a full refund of our prepaid charge, but the man at the front desk was not helpful or at all apologetic. Whether we get the refund or not we were not staying there, and it was very inconvenient and unexpected based on the pictures. Don’t waste your money here.
