Hard to find particularly at night. Carmel has virtually no street lighting off Ocean Ave and homemade street signs that are very hard to read at night. Also when we arrived at night neither my car or cell GPS wouldnt work forcing me to go onto one hotel on Ocean Ave to get ditections to this hotel that is located off Ocean in a residential area. The hotel is made up off small duplexes spread out over a one block area. The duplexes are older structures that are about 80 percent renovated. The bathrooms were original in our unit. The rest of the unit was redone and nice. Unless you are an every thing must be new freak i recommend staying here. Get there before dark so you dont start out frustrated trying to find the place reading hard to read street signs.

Even though it was advertised that there was a working gas fireplace (the entire reason we booked this room for our anniversary) the FIREPLACE WAS CEMENTED OVER! when I asked the front desk about it they acted surprised and then consulted reach other and responded "no fireplace." Um, ok? The lighting was HORRIBLE with the most obnoxious bright florescent light it was like we were in a warehouse. Not romantic at all.

This property on the outside was beautiful as is almost everything else in Carmel. The inside walls need to be repainted. The mattress seemed to be old and in need of replacement. I was disappointed with our room as I expected it to be more "Camel" like. The rooms were not insulated well and quite noisy.

It was great that we could bring our dog along on our trip. Staff was nice. I just wish the little bit of construction they were doing could have waited for the week days. Still a nice stay.

The cabin type houses were quaint. However the soaps were so cheap, there was rust all over the tissue box and mold around the sink. Pillows were all flat from age. $200 a night for basically a dump Would not stay again.

Good sized cabins that had a lot of potential. Unfortunately large room with 2 beds and 1 dirty desk and a wooden chair. That was just unfortunate. The bathroom was terrible. There was mold around the sink and bathtub. No one in my family wanted to use it! This place was cheaper than other places in Carmel-By-The-Sea but we booked late and this is what was left. It was still over 200 dollars a night and was was a terrible place

We liked the separate cottages. Felt private and spacious. And the fireplace was cozy. We did not like that the toilet didn’t flush. And the shower temperature fluctuated, not staying consistently warm. But it served our needs for short stay.
