The Skull Tower is as freaky as it is fascinating.
The skulls are from the victims of a failed attempt by the Serbs to claim back their territory from Ottoman rulers in 1809. The tower was built on the side of “Via Militaris” (Military Road), which was the main route connecting Belgrade to Istanbul, as a warning to any potential attackers.
Go to the information office to buy your ticket and someone will unlock the tower for you.
