I have stayed at the Riu in Los Cabos and Nuevo Vallarta and I enjoyed everything about my stay so I decided to give Mazatlan a try. This was is a little out dated it is clean but the bathrooms really need to be updated the tub is extremely tall hard to get into. I can not imagine how hard it would be on older people. My biggest problem was that the elevators were not always working properly. The wait was just terrible and no air conditioner in the elevators when you finally got one because everyone wanted to get on it. The staff was friendly. The buffets had a variety of food something for everyone. The specialty restaurants were just ok. Our favorite was the Mexican one. We did enjoy the adults only pool. I believe if it wasn’t for the elevator situation I would return but to me it is a big deal we were on the 6th floor and we had to climb the stairs several times I can not imagine being top floors with the warm weather. It is also not high season so I don’t even want to find out what happens then.

You need to work on adding more elevators because the wait is terrible. Also try incorporating air conditioner in your Italian restaurant. Besides that, we love the room, the pools and the food.

We had a perfect view of the ocean. The building is big but a little old. The food was okay, it's all inclusive, so not great. The pools were good and clean. Staff were courteous and attentive. Now the bad: not enough elevators for the amount of people, so you will wait a while to go up and down. There isn't much to do within walking distance and it is far from all of the attractions, so you will need to catch a ride or drive a good 35-45 min to get into town. 350 to 500 pesos each way, so it gets expensive to get around. If you are staying at the hotel and not doing much outside of the hotel, then it's good, otherwise, stay somewhere not all inclusive near the Malecon area, so you can explore and eat better food.
