The staff was great, the lake view was wonderful, and the prices were very good. The breakfast is acceptable, especially given the prices, and the best part about it is that it's available until, I think, 10:30 AM so if you're on vacation and don't want to jump out of bed, that's fine. I have three complaints. 1) The blankets were some of the thinnest I've ever had, with no comforter, and no extra blanket. I took the blanket off the other bed in my room and was still cold. 2) No nightlight which I've never seen in a hotel before, so bathroom visits in the middle of the night aren't great. 3) I stayed in the wing on the left side of the hotel, if looking directly at, it and the last concrete step is the same color as the parking lot, so I didn't see it when leaving the first time, fell, and cut up my leg and hand pretty good. The problems aside, I'd definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous views, across from Great Lake

The hotel staff were very friendly, from the front desk to the housekeeping, very welcoming. The hotel is located across the street from Lake Superior, gorgeous views! The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but hey, nothing beats your own bed at home. The room was clean & the air conditioning worked good too! It was a 85° day and was nice to come back to an air conditioned room.

Mice in the hotel

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at because it has mice. This hotel is made up of two buildings: the lobby building and the other building. Our room was on the frist floor in the other building. The hallway and our room had a very bad smell when we dropped off our luggage in the afternoon. When my wife saw a mouse in the room that evening, we knew what the smell was. After complaining about the mouse, I was told we would get a discount. When we checked out, we were charged for the full amount. The evening staff left a note for the manager that read, "the mice are back." Avoid this hotel, mice can carry several diseases. Even though it is close to Lake Superior, our room's windows were so dirty that the view of the lake was bad. The road noise was also very loud. We did not have breakfast in the morning because of the mice.

Horrible-- don't stay here! RUN DOWN AND OVERPRICED!

ICKY ICKY and ICKY! They turn the heat down to 55 degrees in the winter (in Marquette for gosh sakes!!!) ...took hours for the room to warm up, even longer for the sheets. Tried to let the shower run to heat up the bathroom, and it was so cold (no heat in the bathrooms, leave the door open!) that everything was immediately covered in condensation. Cigarette burns on the 30 year old sinks, tiny TV, BATHTUB WOULDN'T HOLD WATER (i WAS hoping TO WARM UP BY TAKING A BATH!) no coffee for the coffee maker, when I complained at the desk and asked for my money back in the morning, of COURSE the owner wasn't there, and the desk clerk didn't have the "authority' to give me a refund! THE LOCAL HOSPITAL"DISCOUNT" RATE FOR PATIENT'S AND FAMILIES WAS MORE THAN I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE ROOM FOR ON THIS SITE

Stinky! Stinky! Stinky!

Our recent visit was terribly dissapointing at this hotel. The entire hotel reeked of stale and musty smoke. Hallways made me gag! Desk staff was less that courteous and not at all pleasant. We stood at the counter for over 20 minutes before being even acknowledged. We watched the desk clerk visit on the phone and have his hand on his head and twirling about to determine direction like he thought he was a weather vane. He insisted we had to pay for our room even though it had been booked with Travel website. Asking for anything of the desk clerks was met with scorn and unpleasantness. Our family had booked a total of 10 rooms, and they could have treated us a bit nicer. When we asked about a place for breakfast, they pointed to the continental breakfast room and could not offer a restaurant suggestion. The breakfast consisted of very stale, rubbery tasting bagels, hard English muffins, scary looking round blobs of scrambled eggs, cereal and beverages. When we mentioned the juice was empty, the desk clerk just rolled her eyes. While we were still lingering in the room after hours and planning our day, she came in and refilled the cases. No wonder everything tasted stale. Too bad they don't put out the breads the day they are served. Not 20 hours prior to eating. The location was convienent and we were able to walk across the highway to enjoy a magnificent spectacular fireworks display on the 4th. That was great!

Barking dogs, parties, no lights

The first room we checked into had no working lights in the bathroom or entryway. There was a dog in the room next door, barking non-stop. The staff did switch us to a different room, which was better, but people partied up and down the hall until 4 am.

Filthy place

This could be a really nice place if the rooms were cleaned. We knew we were getting a smoking room and expected it to smell like smoke. We did not expect it to smell like body odor! There were dirty towels still in the bathroom from the last people.\n\nYou could tell they are trying to do something with the place. There is still masking tape around the windows form who knows when they painted them. The masking tape looked like it had been there for a while. \n\nThe bed was not a queen size like we thought it would be. It was just a regular double bed. The curtain over the window by the door did nothing to block out light so it was as bright as day light in the middle of the night.\n\nWe picked this place because it said there are walking trails by the beach. The highway was so busy there was no way you could walk across the street to get to them.\n\nIt was a shame to see what could be a nice place look and smell like it did. This is one place I will never go back too!
