Dank, dismal, decrepit, dilapidated, depressing. I was snookered in by the deceptive title “Monterey beachfront-Marina”. This property is not in Monterey on the marina beachfront. It is 15 minutes away from the town of Monterey, in the small town of Marina, across the street from an enormous sand dune and luxury resort. No waterfront in sight, no beach access near hotel. State beach is a ten minute walk. More like a $65 room rather than a $200 room. The grounds are filthy, the pool is covered and non operable. All of the exterior stair railings are peeling with rust and rot. The door to the room does not fit the frame, with gaps all around and the u shaped security latch is broken and halfway unscrewed from doorframe which is broken and cracked with rusted nails protruding from casement molding. (It appears that door was kicked in at some point) The toilet tank lid was completely cracked in half. The room was dusty and there was only one towel provided for a King bed room. Newer sink. Newer fiberglass bathtub insert. No stopper in the tub. The curved shower curtain rod was sagging due to improper installation, so the curtain did not hang to the edges, resulting in water all over floor while showering. Towel rack above the toilet is down sloping so anything on it falls into toilet. Bathroom door hinges are completely rusted. Only one bedside table. The mattress was sagging and had a 2” foam topper. Pillows were undersized squares full of foam chunks. Lots of road noise.

I was highly disappointed because the hotel room looks nothing like the ones in the pictures. We got into our room after a long drive, and there were flies in the room! There were no towels, the room was still dirty. There was hair all in the bathtub, food on the floor, rappers on the floor. It’s a really small room and we got one with the king size bed. We had the air conditioning unit on, and it made my boyfriend sick, I’m not sure if they have cleaned the filters or not. It did not have a smoke detector, someone removed it from the ceiling , and the following day in the morning of one of the maids were cleaning right next to our door at 8 o’clock in the morning with what sounded like a vacuum or leaf blower, making a lot of noise with no regard for people sleeping. I didn’t feel comfortable trying the breakfast after seeing how dirty the room was. I mentioned it to the front desk and he offered to switch us rooms but at that point I had already cleaned it myself with disinfectant wipes I brought. The only think I liked was that it was a close walk to the beach and we went around 7pm and got to see dolphins swimming around.

The surrounding area going up to our room was very dirty. Our room was pretty clean for the most part and it was close to the beach so that was great. What I really disliked was just that it was very, very small there was nowhere to put our clothes away and the closet that they had in the room was small also with like 3 hangers. I guess if you’re there just for the night it would be ok but anything longer than that I wouldn’t recommend it. The breakfast wasn’t that great either just a few items to choose from.

my stay was not great you can hear every little thing in my room from people using the shower/faucet, people outsode just very noisy place to stay. The ac unit bottons broken, room wasnt cleaned well. No shampoo/conditioner were empty. The only thing that was good was the breakfast selection. I wouldnt stay here again.

It was horrible! the first room we went to was dirty no shower head water in the walls smelled so bad of cigarettes n chemicals i had to ask for another room. And the second room had no towels no toilet paper and it was dirty. Please let me know who i can talk to so i can get a refund. Thank you

I don’t recommend.

Only positive is the proximity to the beach. Everything about the room itself was terrible. First everything looks and is dirty. From the outside, you can see trash, food, debris throughout. There are flies and bugs flying everywhere around the property due to the trash cans that are located throughout. Parking lot smells of weed. Upon entering room, the only window you have is facing the walkway. So if you want privacy you have to pull down the shade which is very stained and now you have no natural light. There is a giant tv that’s another positive. But everything else, is needing to be either repaired or replaced. The shower was almost impossible to turn on you’d have to pull extremely hard. The shower was dirty and the shower head was like 4 inches from the wall, it seemed the plumbing had been pulled out. The holes in ceiling were filled in with toilet paper. The ceiling had stains that I’d rather not describe. Fridge was there but didn’t really cool. Overall I did not even sleep well there as there was lots of noise throughout the night. If looking for cheaper hotel this is option but be prepared because truly you get what you pay for here. I will not stay here again. Housekeeper was friendly felt bad for them. Front desk man was not pleasant.

I usually only leave good reviews. But I was so disappointed with the stay and I hope they improve things. The outside was outdated but it doesn’t bother me too much. What bothers me is the condition of the room. There was burnt hole on the blanket and sheets was dirty, looked like lubricant all over the sheets really gross. They changed the room but didn’t apologize at all. Kind of had an attitude about it. The next room was ok. But the towels were stained, had hair on it and was not washed well. Someone tagged on the wall. Well we won’t be staying here ever again. Only plus was walking to the beach close by. Really sad that this hotel was so dirty.

It is in the print that this place is a smoke free premises and there is daily housekeeping. NOT TRUE. People were smoking right in front of our room. After check-in, got a message that housekeeping is done every 3rd day only. There were no towels in the bathroom on check in day. The blinds in the room does not block out the light outside. The room itself is in bad condition i.e. molds on the wall, bath tap needs a serious replacement, no hot water in the basin, water tasted "medicinal", towels were stained and the bedsheet seemed not change as we found long strand of hair in the bedsheet. The breakfast was very, very average. We were very disgusted with the condition of the room. First time that we were dis-appointed with a booking via Expedia. Hope this is the last coz we really liked booking via Expedia.
