Parador de Albacete
"The Parador is on the edge of the town with easy access from the A road. We parked at the Parador and checked in, we had wonderful rooms overlooking the gardens with a lovely shaded balcony and a great pod coffee machine. We spent a while alternately listening to birdsong and the sound of military jets from the nearby airbase, home to the Spanish equivalent of 'Top Gun'. The reason we'd chosen Albacete, other than it being a convenient stop on the way home, was the Botanic Gardens. These opened at 7PM so we had dinner at the Parador - delicious veal burgers whilst sat on the terrace - before we drove the short distance to the gardens. The rooms were amazingly quiet considering how close the main road was and the bird sone was far more noticeable than the traffic. Breakfast was, as always with Paradors, fabulous. An excellent value stay and certainly a place I'd return to."
