I traveled here for the EPRC finals and to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in nearly twenty years.I chose Durango as my base because it is an easy 40-minute train ride into Bilbao. The hotel itself is ideally located—just a 10-minute walk from the station and close to local shops, restaurants, and beautiful historic buildings. Having stayed at Silken hotels before, I had high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed. It is a beautiful property featuring a nice restaurant, an onsite spa, and a lovely garden area for outdoor dining.The hotel staff were super friendly and welcoming, even using my name after just a few days. The breakfast was good, and my room was large, spotlessly clean, and featured great air conditioning with multiple aspects. The bed was comfortable, so I slept very well. The bathroom also had a nice, powerful shower and decent-sized towels.I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return. While I suspect I was very lucky with the great weather during my trip, the hotel's excellent amenities make it a fantastic choice rain or shine."
