The hotel had been completely overtaken by a very large and somewhat lawless wedding..., reckless parking outside and along the avenue, lounge taken over by hairdressers, make up assistants, bar extrememly rowdy, heavy security presence at hotel entrances, unsupervised children up and down the corridors banging on all the bedroom doors, late night shouting and arguing outside and inside, security questioning when trying to enter the hotel, police called to enforce removal of vehicles blocking driveway, the list is endless. Two nights of this is neither restful or relaxing or enjoyable. Quite an intimidating environment.

The room was spacious and large enough to accommadate 2 double beds. Instead it had a double which was 2 large singles pushed together and a pull out bed which was so uncomfortable it couldnt be slept in. We all slept in one bed. No dressing gowns were in the room. The bar meals were expensive and were standard if not poor. The staff were polite

Staff at Oulton Hall are the stand out feature. From check in to Oliver in the restaurant to the waiting staff at breakfast, all are well above expectations. Old school service where staff wait for you to pass rather than rushing to get where THEY need to be is actually quite refreshing these days. Can some things be improved, sure but this hotel has a lovely pool, great dinner and breakfast and just a lovely vibe. Check it out, for the most of us, it’s a wonderful experience.

Nice room - Shower gel/bath should be provided also slippers would be useful . Dinner told half an hour wait at the bar before we could order as kitchen to busy at 7pm. Breakfast pastries cold and stale but rest of continental breakfast was very good. Cooked breakfast not great quality. Staff very attentive.

Second visit and it did not disappoint. Amazing venue with stunning grounds. Staff very friendly and breakfast was nice, with a vast variety of hot and cold foods to choose from. Only really negative was pool was cold and slight draft in steam room and sauna. This can be easily fixed and would not discourage anybody from staying at this venue.

We’ve stayed here 5/6 times now and the rooms are just so tired. The room was cold and very noisy. The bathroom was old and dirty and the shower flooded the floor due to no seal under the tiny shower screen. The staff in the restaurant could not care less about anything and rather than just take a credit card for any purchases, £50 was deducted from our card with no mention as a contingency. We stayed in August 2025 and this never happened. Not worth the money anymore unfortunately.

Ran out of hot food at breakfast, staff seemed stressed. The pastries were definitely not fresh, they were stale and inedible. The room was OK, but needs attention. Scuff marks on doors, paintwork chipped, lighting system was a nightmare (old and didn’t work properly) nowhere to alter the temperature in the room. An old thermostat on the wall, which wasn’t in use, so everyone was too hot. Girl on reception when we arrived was miserable and not very welcoming. I don’t know why I had to pay £50 holding deposit, I travel a lot and never had to do that anywhere else?

A return to a favourite hotel, looking beautiful with all the Christmas lights and decorations. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The menu had changed slightly and we enjoyed a lovely meal. We will return.

great stay, staff awesome in general, especially the guy in the restuarant who came and spoke to my children in the evening and the morning, and offered to get them pancakes etc, boys felt really special and enjoyed the visit, also loved the pool and the room was also very good. will come back again

Hotel in itself well maintained and as expected Our room whoever had lights coming on all the way thru the night - 4 or 5 times, must have been a faulty panel or something but it scared the kids and we obviously got no sleep Managers view was should have reported it then. And would have moved us rooms - not practical with 2 kids and loads of stuff. Focus was getting them back to sleep 25% refund offered - my view should be closer to 50% as literally no sleep and ruined our plans for Xmas markets with a past tired family
