"What a beautiful setting and absolute gem of a building. Great staff with fabulous sense of humour. Every window has such lovely views you can’t quite believe you’ve found such a quiet spot. I won’t spoil the secret for other visitors but finding that extra little place in the woods made my visit. Such a special little extra. The shared spaces are all large, airy and well maintained. I loved the windows, the staircase and the furniture. I appreciate the upkeep of something so old takes a great deal of money to keep in tip top condition, so new carpets must be diverging that happens over time. Our room was a bit tired, but then we didn’t pay much for our stay so I wasn’t disappointed at all. I just worry that if you did pay a lot you would want a refurbished room without scuff marks or broken lampshades. Things happen and wear and tear is normal but just those little things need maintaining to make everyone feel looked after, and aren’t too expensive to replace. All in all we loved our stay. Stuart was a legend. He handled the burnt toast beautifully. The walks by the river and through the wood were my highlight."

"Lovely quaint and quiet country property with beautiful grounds. The breakfast was excellent with both hot and cold choices. Staff were very helpful. Lots of parking conveniently on site. Our only problem was our room was badly in need of maintenance - toilet did not flush and shower backed up onto floor. Staff came to assist but said they'd need maintenance to come following day so we just used main washroom toilet downstairs. Likely nobody told them of the issues and cleaners wouldn't know without running shower."

"A wonderful old style hotel friendly staff. Traditional not modern but all the better for it. Initial impressions did not do it justice as once we had settled in the place became more ideal and welcoming. Will come again when next passing despite being slightly of track. Thoroughly recommended"
