It was a lovely experience. When staff realized that we were booked into a double room at the end of a steep staircase, they offered us a triple room on the second floor. For our hikes, we could use hiking sticks that were there for the guests to use. My wife could even use a pair of spikes. The food was wonderful prepared with love, and we had nice conversations.

A true Swiss mountain experience

If you are looking for true Swiss mountain home experience and not a tourist hotel, this is the place for you. Quaint quiet village. Pension Gimmelwald is a great hotel, gives you a true mountain village experience. Rooms are spotlessly clean, staff is friendly and entertaining. Home cooked meals are fabulous. Highly recommend coming here.

Beautiful setting

My wife and I found the staff to be extremely down to earth people. The small village of Gimmewald does not have a lot of amenities but we loved how authentic and unspoiled it is. There are many easily accessible hiking trails with outstanding views. The food at the hotel is excellent. I had concerns about having a room with a shared bathroom but that was no problem at all. I have traveled to all 50 states in the US and dozens of countries and this hotel was my favorite place that I have ever stayed at.
