"Our stay at 14 West Boutique Hotel met the baseline expectations for a 3-star property, with a few notable highlights and drawbacks. The biggest selling point is definitely the location. It is incredibly convenient and makes exploring the best parts of Laguna Beach very easy. We did run into a brief issue at check-in when our first room had an overwhelmingly strong smell of chemical detergent or bleach. Fortunately, the staff was very accommodating and responsive—they changed our room immediately without any hassle. The second room was clean, comfortable, and everything went smoothly for the rest of our stay. Keep in mind that while it is labeled a "boutique hotel," the exterior-corridor layout feels much more like a traditional motel. If you adjust your expectations for a solid 3-star motel-style property in an excellent location, it is a perfectly fine choice. Pros: Fantastic location, helpful and quick-acting staff, clean second room. Cons: Strong initial chemical odor in the first room; overall vibe and layout lean heavily toward a motel."

"From the minute we arrived we felt right at home. The staff was super friendly and the room was clean bright and very modern and the view even better. We were celebrating our birthdays and had dinner at Splashes. Again the view was amazing. The cocktails were so so, but everything else was great. Would recommend this place in a second."
