"We stayed in a Japanese style family room. It was clean and comfortable. Futons were a little thin so we stacked the extras for my husband. The food was delicious and the staff very warm and welcoming. We took the trailhead across from the hotel and enjoyed a run by the lake. Beautiful area."

Art Hotel Hirosaki City
"This was a strange one. Last year, we stayed at the Art Hotel in Aomori which was brand new. The Art Hotel in Hirosaki is a short walk from Hirosaki station and seems to be an older hotel that has undergone renovation when taken over by Art Hotels. The room was a bit cramped, albeit that there were three of us and that they had to add a portable bed to the room, but the strange thing was the bathroom. It was the biggest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel in Japan with two sinks and a large shower/bathtub stall. They had a nice breakfast buffet at a reasonable price with local specialties, i.e. apples since it's Aomori prefecture, which is good because there's not much going on in Hirosaki around the train station. But there is a Gusto family restaurant we went to about a five minute walk from the hotel. Now I want to say something about the staff working there. In a rush to catch a train, I forgot my cane at the front desk and was already on the train when I realized that. My wife called the staff and explained and they packed it up nicely and overnighted to our next hotel. Yes, we had to pay for the shipping, but I appreciate the diligence of the staff in returning it to me."
