Not sure why, but had two police officers on site. There were a lot of loud boisterous people in parking lot playing VERY LOUD music on hopped up car stereos. Maybe a Friday night thing of contest. And this was before 8 PM. INSIDE was different. Staff very courteous and seemed proud to be working here. One said this conversion from old DRURY HOTEL was done by a local entrepreneur who is converting a downtown Jackson MS to a boutique hotel.

Not as luxurious as they try to appear.

First of all, when you walk in, you have to walk through the gauntlet of security doors. The place presents as this nice, upscale hotel experience, but just to get in the door (after dark, not sure what time they close the doors) you have to wait in a holding cell to be buzzed in. Next, getting to the room, the elevator was… well, it was working, but…. It kinda had a mind of its own? I was on floor 3, and I watched on the ground floor as it came down to 2, went up, came down to 2, went back up, stopped at 2 again, then, finally, to 1. I got on - by myself in the elevator - pressed 3, it went up, stopped, doors opened, I stepped off and just in time to miss the doors closing, realized that I was on the second floor. But those are quibbles. The elevator performed its function, barely, and there are those who feel much safer with a gauntlet of draconian security doors. The thing that was egregious and made me pack up and leave was that the WiFi was not working with my computer. I asked about the WiFi at the front desk when I checked in, because I had an important zoom meeting in the morning and wanted to be sure I could connect. But when I got to the room, it didn’t work. When I called the front desk, the desk clerk said that he could do nothing BUT the IT guy would be there in the morning. I could not risk waiting, I needed to be sure I could connect, so I went to another hotel.

The hotel’s lobby is nice. They have nice, hospitable, front desk associates, and the breakfast is so good. The room felt like I went back to the 1990s. Old wooden furniture, chipped up wood on the bathroom door, the inside of the refrigerator was dirty, and there was no smart tv.

Mothers Day Weekend 2025

It was an amazing stay. My daughters and I chose this as a halfway point for a mothers day weekend. The room was very clean and sizeable for 4 people. We stayed in a Queen double with separate living area.The complimentary/continental breakfast and evening hotdogs and taco bar with refreshing adult beverages were awesome. This will be our meeting spot for awhile. The ladies at the front were nice and friendly. The attendants that i spoke with in the halls were very nice and attentive. Thank you ladies for an amazing stay and some chatting. See you next time...The Curtis family

This hotel was rated at 9, but I’d give it a 4. Very dated. Not in a great part of town. My friend who lives in Jackson told me to “watch out” in that area. I definitely won’t stay anywhere near this place again.

I gave this hotwl a rating of 5 stars because it was the absolute cleanest hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The service was great. I was surprised that during their free reception, they had free food and it was very good. The next morning a free hot breakfast. Again the food was very good. The location was great and it was easy to get around by car. I would highly recommend. Kudos to Veronica.
