Very bad room, smelly and it’s in basement. All night we hear flushing in above bathroom. My wife couldn’t sleep at all. Also I requested to change and the receptionist was rude and said there’s no other room and next day the lady receptionist said there were available rooms so first male receptionist was lying I request a full refund for my money, Thank you

Location is amazing, at the heart of the famous Taksim square, very close to all the restaurants and coffee shops and bars and entertainment. Very close to the metro station and bus station, and there are many taxi cabs around. Check in was very easy and staff was very friendly and helpful. Elevator worked very well, but it is only for two people. Internet also worked well. TV has good channels. Hot water was good. The following are the negatives. It may get really noisy on weekends because there are so many teenagers hanging out on the street and drinking until morning. In the morning cleaning and trash people made some noise. Room Cleaning also needs some improvement because they were hair either from previous person or the cleaning staff around. Also, I couldn't run the heater on AC, but the central heating system was working fine. Bed was very comfortable however, they have one type of pillow which was too high for me.

October 2023 Excellent hotel, staff, location. Stayed at Bunkahaus for 4 nights. Bekram and Maya were extremely helpful, calling places on our behalf. The hotel is just off Taksim Square so it's very convenient for getting around. If you close the windows and turn on the AC, you won't hear minimal street noise, or the call to prayer. The large room was only US$55 pn and comes with all the usual amenities (tea/coffee, TV, safe, soaps, etc). You're 1 street down from "the" Istikal Street so there's unlimited eating and entertainment. We are very happy with Bunkahaus, and if we return to Istanbul, we would definitely stay there again.

My Bankahaus Review

First impressions arriving at the hotel was good. Location great but later found this location was quite a noisy area so if you’re looking for a quite nights sleep, you’ll struggle. The hotel looked a little tired and was a shame the Japanese Restaurant within no longer operated. Greeted at the hotel reception by a young chap. I checked in and directed up to my room on the first floor. The room was a good size with a raised bed area, small table, a chair and a little tea coffee area with mini fridge. Also had an on-suite. And a small wardrobe. A TV but only Turkish channels. I also noticed a small safe under the raised bed area which was great but it was locked. I couldn’t but notice the incredibly strong damp odour and smell from the loo! I had open the windows to get rid of the smell and air the room. I quickly found out the odours were to return because although the en-suite had an extractor fan, it didn’t work, hence the continuing damp smell. The other bad odours seem to emanate when the other toilets flushed in the other rooms which wasn’t very pleasant for obvious reasons. With regards to s to the safe, as mentioned it was locked. I asked several times if it could be opened but they said they would every time but never did. So I had to walk around with all my personal belongings which wasn’t the most comfortable thing to do for a week. The best part of my stay was, the mattress was comfortable and the sheets were clean. no hot water on morning of checkout.

Reception staff is pleasant. Location is very close to Taksim but the hotel could put up a more visible sound. Big negative is some venue close by which plays very loud music past midnight making it difficult to sleep.
