Beach Nourishment Notice – Isle of Palms
Like all barrier islands, the Isle of Palms experiences natural cycles of sand accumulation and erosion. While most of our beach remains healthy, two specific areas in Wild Dunes are showing signs of significant erosion.
• North Hot Spot: In front of the Ocean Club and Seascape communities, located at the northern tip of the island.
• South Hot Spot: Along Dunecrest Lane, Beachwood East, and Seagrove Villa.
To address these concerns, the City of Isle of Palms will begin an emergency beach nourishment project on April 10. The project involves relocating sand from a sandbar located in front of the Property Owners Beach House to these erosion-prone areas.
Work can only be conducted during low tide, when the sandbar is accessible. Below is the tentative schedule:
• April 10–24: Nourishment of the South Hot Spot
• April 24–May 8: Nourishment of the North Hot Spot
• May 8–22: Return to the South Hot Spot for additional nourishment
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to protect and preserve our beaches.
For updates, please visit the City of Isle of Palms site.

Perfect home away from home

The property was just as beautiful as the pictures showed. Felt newly renovated and was very well cleaned. All the prior renters left behind items were cleared - which in general I love (no cabinet of old spices for me please!) but I do find it nice when there is extra Laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, trash bags, that sort of thing left in the unit. That was my only suggestion for improvement, but they did provide a starter pack of all the essentials. The walk to the beach was very easy and situated in a good spot with a wide beach and calmer waters. The welcoming emails leading up to our stay were a nice touch with lots of helpful information. Look forward to staying here again when we visit next.

Nice getaway

We rented this unit for the space and the proximity to the beach. Both points did not disappoint. We r a family of 6 and the extra bathrooms and beds definitely helped. But if you are looking for a plush and five star accommodations, this was a little short on that. Doors were dirty and looking worn. Beds were a bit uncomfy. Some of the bedsheets were a bit outdated. We had holes in ours. Bathrooms were only so so. Shower curtains were a bit cheap looking. Patios had a nice setting but could have a used a good power washing. Kitchen had a hodge podge cookware and utensils in it. And if you are a big pool user, there is a bit of a walk to get there. So if you have small children, take that into consideration when choosing this unit. It wasnt all bad. We enjoyed our stay. Like I said, we are a big family so we get places that can provide us the space and has amenities such as washer dryer and kitchen. So it served us just fine. But if you are looking for fanciness and poshness and comfy furniture. This isnt the place for you.

Best two weeks stay with friends & family

We all had an amazing time. IOP is beautiful, family friendly and beautiful people. The house is beautiful, excatly as it is on the pictures. We love the view from the porch, so calm and serene, execept for the sound of nature. We enjoyed grilling there every night and drink our coffee in the morning before we head out to the pool or the beach, both just a few minutes walk distance. The neigjborhood is quiet and prestine. 10min drive to the town for food shopping. 30min drive to Charleston. We had two family for a couple of days at different time and that was perfect. It never felt crowded. The master bedroom with King bed is on the first floor and children and guest rooms are upstairs. Every room very comfortable. Full kitchen. I would recommend it to everyone going to IOP and we would stay there again if we were to repeat a trip to IOP.

Wonderful family getaway

We had a wonderful time staying at Pelican Bay. It was our first time in Wild Dunes and it was exactly what we all needed - beautiful location, relaxing, and a quick drive to downtown or Mount Pleasant. House was clean and welcoming and the perfect size for our family (6 total including 2 little girls and grandparents). We would definitely stay here again! Only suggestions for owners are: please look at the BBQ (it cooked so slow we had to finish in the oven), fix the upstairs bathroom ceiling, and the 2nd floor bed is pretty uncomfortable. Other than that, it was great!

PELICAN REST

Most excellent adventure! The house was amazing. Beautifully decorated inside and out ( all 4 porches with spectacular views!) We appreciated being in the gated community of Wild Dunes! So well kept with multiple areas for walks, runs, bicycling. The house was practically next door to the pool and a short walk to the beach. It’s also a short drive to a block of ocean viewing restaurants and a speck of quaint beachy shops. Drive a little further and you’re in Charleston. Highly recommend a visit to “Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum.” Also the “Seabiscuit” Cafe on the Isle of Palms. Loved the bonus of getting beach equipment too! We loved our stay at the “Pelican Rest” beach house. Highly recommend and would stay there again in a minute. Go..you won’t be disappointed!

We really enjoyed our stay at Pelican Bay. We’re a family of 4 and it suited our needs very well. The house was just as represented and we enjoyed the ping pong table for an evening activity. Short walk to the beach and other facilities. The check-in process was super easy and trouble free. Location is convenient to restaurants and shops on Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island and Mt Pleasant area and an easy drive over to downtown Charleston. Would stay there again.

A fantastic week in an absolutely lovely home!

Pros: This house is beautiful, immaculate and well stocked! It was, by far, the cleanest VRBO we’ve ever stayed in. We loved the decor and the comfortable beds. The swing on the back deck is absolutely lovely. We enjoyed watching the alligator in the pond. The walk to the beautiful beach takes just a few short minutes. We are a family of 7 and fit comfortably in the house. The drive into Charleston is a quick, easy, 30(ish) minute drive. We also found some great restaurants in Sullivan’s Island which is a very short drive away. Cons: It is not mentioned anywhere, but you need a key to access the closest pool (which is about a 10 minute walk), but this key is not provided to you upon check in. You need to drive into town and pick it up at the office. This isn’t mentioned anywhere and we weren’t told about it until we had our five kids in their suits and had walked all the way to the pool only to find it locked. Once we picked up the key all was well again. Kitchen chairs are flimsy and uncomfortable. With the exception of the porch swing, the outdoor furniture is also uncomfortable. Adding some pads for the wicker furniture could greatly enhance the comfort level. Overall, I am so happy we chose this house for our week in IOP! If we were ever to return, we would rent this house again in a heartbeat!
