Lake Michigan Sunset Views from updated Macatawa home w/private beach access

Welcome to Macatawa, a place to bask in the glow of Lake Michigan sunsets!

Whitecapp'd Cottage includes a recently renovated 4 bedroom, 2 full bath home, complete with a wraparound outdoor deck. Your experience includes a second private deck area as well, complete with a fire pit and seating - it’s another perfect spot to take in the view. Inside, you’ll find wood floors with shiplapped walls throughout, complete with an updated kitchen, spacious dining area and living room with a gas fireplace.

The fully stocked kitchen includes every appliance you could imagine including a Ninja coffee maker with grinder and an espresso shot option. A Nutribullet full size blender is ready for whipping up some frozen cocktails. There’s even a waffle maker for the kids! Right off the kitchen, find a full size front loader washer and dryer hidden in a convenient closet space. A fully updated bathroom with a walk-in shower is also located on the main floor.

The dining area offers plenty of room to enjoy activities with friends and family. The adjacent living room includes a flat screen TV with Roku. If screens aren’t your thing, we have a cabinet fully stocked with all kinds of board games.

Climb the stairs to the second floor to find 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom with king bed features a private walkout deck - spend your mornings drinking coffee and watching the quaint neighborhood come to life while taking in views of Lake Michigan.

Bedroom #2 also features a king bed and has excellent lake views.

Bedroom #3 has a full bed with a lofted twin bed over it (sleeps 3).

Bedroom #4 features bunk beds with a pull out trundle bed beneath (sleeps 3).

There is another updated full bath on the second floor, with a tub and shower. All bathrooms are fully stocked with hairdryers, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, extra toothbrushes/toothpaste, flossers, Q-tips, feminine products, and plenty of towels.

The cottage is tucked back in the exclusive, private Macatawa Park neighborhood. A gate code is required to enter. The neighborhood is on the shores of Lake Michigan, yet still close to everything that Holland, Saguatuck, and Douglas have to offer. The private beach is a 2 minute walk from the cottage, and we have plenty of chairs and beach towels on hand for guests to use. There are two paths to access the beach, one of them complete with a common area double deck and a slide for kids! From here, the descending steps will bring you right to the beach.

At Whitecapp'd you’ll discover stunning sunsets, calming lake breezes, and a short drive to all the amenities in the surrounding vacation community. There are countless wineries, art galleries, and breweries to visit, as well as orchards and blueberry picking spots. Great shopping and restaurants abound - there’s always something to do. Come relax with us and enjoy the Art Coast of Michigan!

Saturday to Saturday check in, 7 night minimum preferred.

We have been vacationing here since we were kids, and now our kids love it just as much as we do! Owning a cottage here is a dream come true, and we can't wait to share it with you and your family. We love the gigantic beach and the glorious days spent lakeside. Come destress, slow down and enjoy Lake Michigan!

One thing to note - our cottage is located high on a bluff and there are about 15 or so stairs to climb up to reach it. Nothing crazy, but we like to be as transparent as possible. Any other questions, please reach out!

We loved our fall stay at this cottage. Tough to beat the charm of Macatawa. Parking was easy, and the cottage was charming and spacious. It was a great set up for a family, with generous rooms. Sunset and lake views were fantastic, and the outdoor spaces were incredibly comfortable!

Our family had a very happy stay at this home in mid-August, 2025. Everything was clean and comfortable and our property owner couldn’t have been more perfectly accessible and friendly. We had two infants with our group, so much time was spent enjoying them and each other on the marvelous wrap around porch. We stayed in for most of our meals and really enjoyed the lovely kitchen and high end appliances- especially the gas stove top and convection oven. Finally, we were very happy with the easy and short walk to the beach. One of the best features of this property.

Well-appointed house, perfect location

Can’t say enough good things about our stay. The house had everything we needed: kitchen stuff, beach stuff, games, laundry, tv, etc. Spacious deck/porches with great views; very peaceful and surrounded by trees and breezes. Just a short walk from the house to the excellent beach where we could also walk alone the shore to the pier/lighthouse. Both Holland and Saugatuck were easy drives with great shopping and restaurants. Bonus to our stay was joining the neighborhood tennis club as a weekly member for court time and classes.

4 generations of fun!

We rented for 10 days-- w 2 grndparents, 4 adults, 3 teens, and 2 littles (4, 6)-- it worked for everyone! House VERY clean, well appointed w everything needed! Lots of games, beach supplies (chairs, paddle boards, umbrellas, towels, sandtoys, cooler, etc.) The stairs up/down are about 1 1/2 flights- so you get to burn off some of beach snacks- and have sunset/lake views! There is nook around side of porch for beach stuff, bikes, etc. Not completely dry, but out of major weather. Wrap around porch great for reading, games, etc. Excellent WiFi works on all decks/porches. Bedrooms comfy, and up/downstairs on own AC systems. Lots of pillows, blankets, towels, linens, etc. TP/paper napkins, papertowels/ laundry soap/etc. provided. Fans in all rooms) Kitchen v. well appointed- coffee maker- drip as well as pods. Grinder too. Basics (salt/pepper/oil/etc) to get started as well. Parking for 4 vehicles no problem-- but there is NO cellular near house-- program in locale before you get close. Initial carry of all stuff, food, beer, etc. up stairs was a haul, but then set for week! Beach about 2 min walk - easy to go and forth. Right at the bottom of the hill is marina with boat/kayak rental, as well as bike paths which go along bay. Small nature trail too. Holland about 20 min with anything you need. Husband said mountain biking at Upper Macatowa nature area was great. Owner SUPER responsive to any concerns, and fixed any issues super quick. NO concerns! Great place!

Beautiful views

We truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful community. The property was lovely, aside for the steep staircase to get up to the house...it was challenging to get luggage up to and from the property. Views and community were fantastic.

Family Fun

The stay was great. Two mid 70's grandparents with son, daughter, and 5 grandchildren. The beach nearby is awesome. The home was in great shape with a well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed grilling and sitting by the propane fire pit. Nice seating both inside and outside.
