Issue

Pros: very much except no ocean view
Cons: Need more bartenters at BeachComber. There was only one bartender all day for the entire 4 days. Many people at the bar.
Location: Lots of restaurants and shops. Beautiful views
I need to let someone know that I paid an extra $20.00 a night to have a Ocean View and did not get that ocean view. And, of course, there was no room available to move to. That made me quite upset. I would very much like to have a refund on that. Not sure if it was Travelocity's fault or Royal Kona Resort. Thank you Kristin Diorio 10-24-17

Expensive . Very disappointing.

The room was dated. Beds were old . Felt the springs . Wobbled like a cheap motel. There a few positives: close to downtown kona. Walking distance to a lot of great restaurants including "mi 's bistro". Staff made great suggestions for snorkeling. The Hotel on occasion provide a hospitality suite so that you can snorkel, get a shower after check out and go to the airport. For the money stay at the Sheraton. Same money.

Convenient, but not great

The Royal Kona is in a convenient location, close to the airport and near shopping. However, the hotel itself is very outdated and needs a facelift. There is also no room service. If you want to order food for your room, you need to go downstairs to pick it up. I stayed in a corner oceanfront room, which is supposed to be the best room type, but it is far from that. The bed is very uncomfortable and feels like your sleeping on a cot mattress. There were roaches in my room and there was no mini bar and no bath robes. The room was also pretty small. The only good thing about the room was the view as it was nice. The hotel staff though is very friendly and accommodating. I was expecting a better quality room and hotel for the price I paid.

Okay for the price

Pros: Price and location to airport.Upg
Cons: Upgrade rooms, especially the bath.W
Location: Was on a one day circle tour of the big island so not sure.
Booked this online as was only looking for a one day layover, is basically a time share or vacation club. Overall the staff were excellent as were all staff in Hawaii. Facility is showing its age, rooms were clean, not overly furnished, would say it is due for a refurbish.

Great Kona resort

Location: Location perfect! Close to restaurants, beaches, sites. Trips to Hilo- zoo and botanical gardens or volcano park worth the drives. Do GreenwoodFarms
We stayed for 7 nights and wished we had 7 more. Great staff, security, luaa, location and room. Easy walking to food. Easy travel to historic sites. Tours avsilable, but we chose to do our own thing. The lagoon was never crowded and the one night we used the pool, we were the only folks there. Our request for maintenance support was met in minutes. Seems that in fixing the clogged drain in the room above us, they backed up our pipes. By the time we returned, our room was clean and working well. My one complaint is the confusing parking lot. Our car was hit by a couple from Germany as they tried to get assistance to operate the gates and navigate the one way roads. Got to meet hotel security and local police, but it took hours to process. (Renting a car? Get the insurance- Hawaii is a no fault State.) Loved out Lagoon tower room where we had a partial ocean, resort view. We could watch the luaa each night from our balcony. Lots of restaurants nearby and pedestrians on the main strip. Felt safe.

Horrific Hotel

First of all, to check in there is no valet parking, no bell hop to assist with baggage. Staff don't smile and when you get your keys that's where the horror starts. Walk path to room is thru side street so watch for trucks and cars. Elevator walls are termite eaten, stairway cement is cracked and dirty. As you reach your room door it was so dirty we didn't want to touch door. Inside room was smelly and desperately needs up grade. Both beds had a big dip in mattress that you sunk in when laying in bed. It was the worse place we ever stayed. Will not tell anyone to stay there in fact stay far from it. Wish I had taken photos but we were so disappointed that we stayed out of room and away from hotel all day and returned just to shower and sleep. Wore sleep ever!
