Halifax, harbor vacinity

Pros: Great proximty to most of Halifax tourist attractions, many within easy walking distance.
Cons: Stayed three days, first nights room had a very small , cramped bathroom. Moved to another room for the remaining nights, much better larger bathroom
Location: The Halifax Maratime Muesum, the Imigration Muesum, the Citadel fortress. A day trip to Luenberg is a must see.
Older hotel, located within blocks of the harbor and numerous dining options. Seems to attract a good number of business meetings, but is more than fine for the vacationer.

The hotel is large, and well situated in downtown Halifax. However, the rooms, beds and bathrooms are rather small and outdated in furnishings.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: small sized rooms beds and bathrooms.

nice place but needs some upgrading

Pros: near a supermarket
Cons: No free Internet
can use some upgrading and most of what's needed will not affect the hotel's history. some touches to paint, doors (mine had cracks in several places), carpetting would be big plusses.

Great staff and good value.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
We were in Halifax last July and enjoyed a very nice stay at the Westin. The hotel is just outside of the downtown area and very quiet. A nice park is across the street. The staff was great and we had a nice conversation with the executive chef who made us a very special breakfast. The doorman was decked out in an authentic kilt and tipped us off on where to find good Cuban cigars!

Would recommend

My adult daughter and I stayed here for 8 nights in April 2009. The lobby is very intviting, our rooms were clean, maid service adquate and the entire staff very very helpful. All the close attention to detail and the tips given to enhance our stay made staying at the Westin a pleasure. Would definitely stay again!

nice hotel

Everything you expect in a Westin. Clean modern rooms, quiet. Helpful freindly staff, Concierge gave good recommendations about sites and restaurants. Pool and fitness room well kept and were never overly busy. Short walk into city center.

Very Nice!

We enjoyed a very nice stay at this older restored hotel. The rooms are very nice indeed. The breakfast buffet at the hotel is excellent but the supper menu is pricey for what you get. There are much better choices for supper in Halifax. I inquired about the rear parking lot which states it costs $*a night. The front counter confirmed that is what I wiould have to pay to park there BUT when I checked out they never charged me for it so I'm not sure whats up with that. We checked out early when there was no parking lot attendant on and he was the one who always asked for our room number when exiting the lot. Maybe early check outs beat the system with respect to the parking fees. or maybe its because I inquired about the parking at the front counter and stated that I thought tthe parking should be free for their guests. Overall a great hotel especially if you get a good room rate which we did on travel website.

Nice experience at a convient place in Halifax.

The staff at the Westin Halifax Hotel couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The room was comfortable, the bed was lush, the view of the harbor provided an added attraction. They provide a coutsey van for in city locations and are convienent for touring the harbor area. This hotel is an old one with a long history that has been kept up well and modernized. Internet service is provided in the room (at a charge) or in the business center (complementary) on a first come basis (they have two computers for guest use). I found the staff very helpful when planning a outing to Cape Breton, they provide maps and suggested routes. I would stay there again.
