Renovations still in progress

This older hotel is convenient to UF and is undergoing renovations. My room was just fine, comfy bed, decent lighting, and impeccably clean. The elevator is a little scary looking. It rained so I couldn't use the pool though it appeared well maintained, and my schedule had me out early so I didn't have the complimentary breakfast. I would stay there again but my husband demands a bit more luxury.

Really bad

Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
Location: location is the only good thing about hotel
The lobby was shabby and depressing (big spider web with tenants next to front door). That was actually the best part of the experience. The halls are dirty, carpet worm, bad smell throughout (including the marijuana smell coming out of one of the rooms). Walls in hallways dirty and torn up. Blackout curtain had holes. Yes, you could see light coming in. Grounds are shabby and mostly weeds. Such potential....such a shame. No redeeming value note. We paid for two nights and gladly left after one night. My husband and I had trouble sleeping (nightmares of bed bugs) We have traveled all over the world and this is by far the worst hotel. 3 stars is an insult and a Wyndham name is offensive for what was offered. Not sure if I am more disappointed with Wyndham or Travelocity.

Wear your hardhat

Pros: Booked it because of proximity to UF
Cons: Cant list in only 150 characters. Read about our experience
Location: Close to UF if you have a student there.
We've stayed in this hotel in the past. The only thing that it has going for it is the deplorable hotels that surround it. Upon arriving at around 10 pm on Saturday, we were checked in. Besides the fact that we had to park literally a block away do to the construction dumpsters and construction equipment occupying a good portion of the parking space, the hallways and elevators were dusty from said construction. The website DOES NOT at any time warn the guests of construction going on. The host at the front desk, DID NOT tell us anything about the construction going on in the rooms. At 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, yes Sunday, the hammering and drilling began on the room directly on top of ours and on our hallway. When we called the front desk, they apologized and the hammering stopped, FOR 10 MINUTES! At 8:00 a.m. it all started again. We got up, went to check out and inquire if they make it a habit to keep the construction detail from the guests making reservations. The employee answered, "there are signs at the entrance of the hotel". NOT WHRE WE CAME IN, but even if there would've been, isn't that a little to late to find out??, I answered. Well, they gave us a $20.00 discount and checked us out. Thanks, next time I'm staying 15 minutes away at the HI. Much nicer and MUCH CHEAPER.

Hotel pictures are deceiving

Pros: There was nothing I liked about this hotel. The pictures on Travelocity were deceiving and I would never stay again. As I'm trying to post this review its telling me I need to add more to what I liked about this hotel. I think I've wrote enough
Cons: The hotel was awful. The outside doors to get in with you room key were never locked so safety was one issue. The hallway carpet and room carpets were filthy and stained throughout the entire room. The elevator sounded like it was going to break and the carpet was torn. The walls in the room looked like they have never been painted. The hotel was loud. This hotel should be priced at $45 a night and not $109

Not good

Very uncomfortable place unless you are a college kid, who doesn't care about being really clean and comfortable. Floors were filthy! Did not want to take my shoes off. Couldn't sleep! Other than that it was fine.

Excellent Place to stay at even if it's for work

Pros: Centrally located and the price was right for the budget.
Cons: The pet friendly smell in the rooms and hallways. The smell of pet and cat urine is way too strong on the hallways and rooms.
Location: Was there for work so only came to sleep not much sightseeing was done.
Excellent and conveniently located hotel to stay at. It was a minute away from the place we were working at and the staff was very friendly and professional. The only thing i did not like and anyone booking this hotel should be aware of is that it is a pet-friendly hotel. I own a white dog, but always manage to leave him with his trainer because i am not crazy about animals sleeping on the bed with me or anyone or the smell of pet friendly rooms. Although i am super meticulous about my dog's cleanliness. I cannot say the same about everyone else reason why I prefer to stay at non-pet friendly hotels. Other than that, the hotel is superb.

Simply put this is not a Wyndham quality hotel.

Pros: So we wrote an email to the CEO of Wyndham and too their credit they called me, apologized and compensated us. Classy move for a bad situation.
Cons: Bulldozer required. Hopefully Wyndham (which is a solid brand in my experience) will step it up.
Wyndham just bought this hotel. It still has the signs from the old hotel. Needless to say they should close it and do the necessary repairs before slapping their name on it. Walking in to check in and I knew we should have left. It smelled like a sewer and a woman in front of me was screaming at the clerk about how awful each of the 3 rooms she was offered were. I asked the young clerk if I should be concerned by the smell and the woman in front of me and he told me everything is fine. Needless to say I should have left. This was a life experience my 6 year old did not need to have at this age. So we walk into the next building where our room is located and are greeted at the door by 2 questionable gentleman who later turned out to likely be supervisors for a woman of the night (trying to be PG here). We walk down the hall which had no AC, smelled awful, and are greeted by an interestingly dressed woman standing outside of a room, eating chicken. Read between the lines. We then (why I did not leave at this point was shear curiosity) hit the elevator which likely was not up to code, made awful noises and was jerky and get to the next floor. We enter our room and the lights don't all work, the toilet is running, the room stinks and a nice roach greeted us. At this point I said to the family we are leaving. We booked elsewhere and the clerk in the front agreed not to charge us. It appeared to me from his reaction that this was a regular occurrence. Nice guy though.

Never again!

I needed to stop in Gainesville, FL on a drive through Florida for one night. I chose the Wyndham Garden Gainesville on Travelocity because of the reviews and rates. However, it was a horrible mistake. The night that I checked in there was a very loud celebration taking place. I requested a quiet room because all I needed was sleep. At first, I was grateful to placed in a room that was far from the noise. However. It felt like I was in the middle of a horror movie. The room was two floors down in the back. I had to park in a poorly lit parking lot. The outside door was unlocked with no sign of security. The kicker was the elevator! It creaked and shook with flashing lights all the way to the basement level. I slept with one eye open! The only positive was the Lakeside grill. Although I didn't appreciate being charged for the option having a warm meal vs cold bread and pastries, the wait staff was cordial and funny. The restaurant staff and the quality of the meal are the only reasons for not having all ones. Overall negatives: The front desk clerks were not the nicest, there was no tissue in the lobby restrooms, the tiny hard pillows were extremely uncomfortable, the snack machines kept stealing my money , nightime lighting and security are dangerouse, and water pressure in the shower was woefully inadequate. Positives: Restaurant staff pleasant and the extra cost for warm breakfast is worth the investment.
