The landscape is very nice and having a golf course surrounding the units makes for attractive stay. The units are being slowly renovated however it is taking far too long. Water damage affecting woodwork. Woodpeckers woke us up every morning during our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate the feedback and are glad to hear that you enjoyed the landscape and the scenery. The process of renovation is unfortunately not a timely process. We appreciate and will look into your concerns. Thank you again for the feedback and we hope you have a nice day!

Not enough bang for the buck

Pros: That each room has a balcony... No one is above you so the extra noise from other rooms is at a minimum.
Cons: The rooms!!
Location: Pechanga hotel and casino is nearby as well as the Thorton Winery
The surrounding property is nice because it sits on a golf course. The rooms however are VERY outdated, the rooms smelled of mildew; the carpet was damp. You could tell they'd cleaned it recently and was not fully dry so we couldn't walk without shoes on. I believe they do this often and is what lends itself to the extremely musty smell. It was so bad that we shortened our stay from 2 days to 1 & checked out early and found another property. Additionally, they have a playground that sits right outside the rooms on a certain side. Now this is great for people who bring their kids along, but for others the screaming & screeching kids sorts killed the relaxation point. They should have a sign out front stating that the actual rooms are NOT anywhere near the check-in desk so you don't lug in your luggage only to have to take it back out to the car and DRIVE to your room up the hill. There was a sign in the room that they will be doing a long overdue upgrade to bring it to Hilton Standards and all I can say to that is HURRY UP! For $200 plus dollars a night, you can't have outdated rooms, next to playgrounds that smell like mildew. This place shouldn't call itself a RESORT until they do the upgrade because it does NOT meet resort standards, at all. On the positive side, the staff is very friendly and helpful so I'll give them credit for that.

Regret our decision to stay at Pala Mesa

I was prepared for the room to be slightly rundown, as many of the prior reviewers said that the hotel needs updating. However, I was not prepared for uncleanliness in the women's restroom, and terrible food and service at the restaurant. The brunch was the worst buffet I have ever had. The food was greasy and not tasty. The omelets were undercooked and the pancakes too thick. Additionally, the restroom in the main area had trash all over the floor, including napkins with wine and a wine glass indicating that it had not been cleaned the evening before. The carpet was had wet spots, and the bathtub had peeling enamel, the structure had rot outside. The pillows and bed were hard. We overheard another guest complaining his TV did not work. Although there were two of us, the hotel only provided us with one regular coffee K – cup, and there was no cream or sugar to accompany the coffee in the room. It appeared the hotel is operating on a shoestring budget. What was most disappointing was the fact that we picked this hotel because it was advertised as a "dog friendly" hotel at $150. When we went to check out, we were advised that there was an additional $50 charge for our pets. We were not advised of this charge prior to going to the hotel. The hotel room was not worth $150, and it was certainly was not worth $200. The grounds were beautiful but It did not make up for the bad hotel and service and I do not plan to return.

Definitely not by the beach

Ordered a room online through Travelocity. That was fine. When we checked in everything seemed fine. We got to our room by 11:15 PM. No King Bed as I had booked. The toilet began overflowing at 3 AM! And when we tried to make our way into the shower. We couldn't get that to work! Not a good experience at all!

Not the golf resort you imaged it would be

Pros: Nothing
Cons: All the above
Location: Had to drive 15 minutes to get to downtown Temecula, when it said it was 7 miles from Pachanga.
Very disappointing experience. On the web site it advertises oyster bar, well that closed a long time ago. The service was not good, young and inexperienced waiters, hostesses. The room for the price I paid was not what it advertises on the web. The room needs more lighting and it smelled like mold. UUhhh, very sad.

Needs updating!

Pros: Free Internet, lovely grounds
Cons: Nothing close, no free breakfast, rooms need updating
The rooms at Pala Mesa Resort really need to be remodeled. Very dowdy looking and feeling. It is obvious that nothing has been changed since they were first built many years ago. The worse thing was the closet in our room which had such a moldy smell we couldn't use it. It is obvious that a lot of money is put into the golf course and grounds, but they need to invest in the rooms as well.

We were disappointed!

We booked through an online travel agency, we were confirmed a king room. We ended up with 2 queen beds in a room next to the launry/housekeeping room. I called the front desk and they said they were totally booked so they couldn't move us. They didn't offer anything else to compensate us either. So I called the online travel agency and waited on hold while they called the hotel. The hotel admitted it was their error, so the online travel agency rep told me I would have to deal with the front desk myself. Went to the front desk and asked if there wasn't something they could do, it was after all our 39th wedding anniversary, suppose to be special! They offered to bring us wine and a cheese plate to our room. It was something, but not exactly what I expected under the circumstances. The room itself was nothing special. We had paid half price so I guess we got what we paid for. Can't help thinking that was the reason why we got the crappy room. We had dinner at their resturant. It was very good. They brought us a special dessert for our anniversary. The hotel grounds are lovely. By the way they do have a pool, on line travel agency info says they just have a hot tub, that is incorrect.
