Pool was great, strange that we have to have cards to get towels and make sure we don't misplace them. Breakfast buffet was AMAZING. Fresh fruits, local foods, typical foods, I had never seen such a large buffet, it was amazing! Food in all restaurants was wonderful, the coffee bar was amazing, plenty of chairs around the pool. Beach was kind of far away and never really came in to play for us

My only complaint is Specialized were nearly impossible to a get in. Unless you are willing to stand online for an hour. I might as well to mc Donald's if I have to stand online and tub the middle of the room was strange.

Hotel is way overdue for a renovation. We had a wedding here and almost every room our party stayed in required a complaint for maintenance. 8 out of 12 rooms had issues. Showers broken, air conditioning broken, room keys failing numerous times, tvs broken, a colony of ants in one room, and a few nasty moldy looking beds. Reported the issues and were told maintenance would come fix everything. No one ever showed up. They also refused to exchange rooms. We had 5 people sick from the food. Restaurants were hard to get into and did not take reservations. If you were not in line at 5:15-5:30 you likely were eating at the buffet. Food was subpar even for an RIU(4th I’ve stayed at). We also had to corner the wedding coordinator to get things lined out because he kept canceling our meetings. After that he did great, wedding went perfectly. Have been to 10 all inclusive resorts now and as far as the building, food, and service this one was by far the worst. The grounds, location, and beach were awesome. The Riu Guancaste next door looked to be much better. Will definitely come back to Costa Rica but will not be visiting the RIU Palace.

Loved the different pool options. Every area of property was clean. Staff were superb. Richard and Kevin were our favorite waiters. Great property and would go back!!

Main door in room did not work twice did not want to open, with working key, did not register original key card as well or after getting it fixed. Fan in the room made so much noise when it was on. Bathroom door would not close all the way. Staff was very kind. Most things in the room were okay but definitely need to be looked at or replaced.

We were just there recently. Overall, we had a good experience, but there were two issues worth mentioning. First, if you want to have dinner at one of the restaurants in the evening, you pretty much need to be in line by 5:45 pm to get a table or reservation. If you arrive later than that, your dining options are very limited and usually end up being the buffet. Second, the room felt outdated. The ceiling fan was squeaking constantly. We asked for someone to come check it out, but no one ever did. Other than that, I can’t really say anything bad. The food was good, the service was great, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were told that hotel renovations are planned for August, which should be a big improvement.

Staff are amazing, very friendly, go out of their way to help. Hotel rooms need some updating. Room refrigerator not working- we called and guy plugged it into different outlet. He left and it promptly quit working. Food pretty good. Some desserts were a little funky. Nice pools and chair options with shade. Felt very safe. Did two excursions thru hotel- nice. Nexus tours did great job.
