Easy check in and check out. Staff really polite and helpful, room was really clean and spacious. The complimentary tea, coffee, water and biscuits went down a treat. The hotel decor/architecture was a delight for the eyes and the variety at breakfast was wonderful too.

very cold room. although they said the system was ok it wasn't ok. they had something that turned on at certain times. in the bathroom i found hair on the face cloth and in the sink there were eyelashes from the previous customer. although hsk was supposed to clean the next day he didn't even come close to take them from there. that's where i found them i don't recommend

A very cold room and quite nosy ( pipes, water). It's ok for a couple of nights but not very comfy overall. Good location and staff are friendly. It could do with more attention to detail. It was a bit disappointing.

Breakfast should be improved. Staff members always kind but cutlery, mugs and plates most of them dirty. Glass and mugs shelves dirty. Jams and Nutella should be single-portion, not hygienic in unique jar for all guests…we did find crumbs in the Nutella jar. We did find 2 long hair in the buffet in 3 days breakfast: one in the mushroom and one in the tomatoes tray, both reported to the staff. When we arrived, we weren't told the heating was out of order. The room was cold, so we tried turning on the central heating and get out for dinner. When we returned, the room was still cold, and when we reported at the reception, they told us there was an issue and that we would have to use a portable heater. Voco is a nice hotel but I’d choose another option when I’ll be back to Edinburgh.

Water pouring from the light fitting and extractor fan above our bath. I told reception that the room and the room above were dangerous and putting people at risk (water and electricity aren't a great combination) and she was like a robot repeating that she was sorry but her maintenance team had said it was fixed. It was almost certainly the waste pipe from the bath in the room above so the only way to fix that would be to either lift that bath out or go in from the ceiling below. So, if you want a hotel that puts guests at risk and takes chances with your family, this is the one for you!

The hotel staff were excellent, warm and welcoming. Our room was a standard double , and catered for everything we needed and potentially what we may need during our stay. Our room faced the garden so was nice and quiet , though I will say if you faced the street , it would have been the same experience as the hotel is on a quiet street. It is centrally located , and only a few minutes walk to Princess Street , restaurants , bars and shops and some of the sights Edinburgh has to offer. The quality of the cooked breakfast was top notch and plenty of alternative options if you wished a “healthier” or “lighter” option to start your day. Check out was not to 12 midday, providing you with a much more relaxed morning before you leave. If we come back to Edinburgh , Voco Hotel is definitely high on my list to return. Thankyou all for a very pleasant stay and excellent service. Hotel Voco , you have a great team of staff who take immense pride in their jobs , and so be very proud of them too !

Second stay here. Staff are excellent. Breakfast is good and the bar is very good too. Reception area is nice. Room was OK - it was quite cold (due to weather and old windows) but a plug-in heater had been provided prior to us checking in. Overall, it's pretty decent but as with a number of places I've stayed recently, feel it's starting to be in need of a bit of TLC/refresh.
