The parking was safe and somewhat convenient. The room was not very clean - there was visible debris on the carpets when we first checked in. The room we ordered was not available until the second night. No one available at the desk when we tried to check in. Had to call the reservation number which took us to an operator in New York, who them put us on hold. Front desk needs to leave a bell or number to call for late check in. You know what they say... You get what you pay for. After we got checked in and moved to a better room (the next night), the stay wasn't too bad. I still cleaned all visible surfaces to my standards and specifications. The visit to Harlan was nice. Harlan has a variety of interesting shops and various out door activities. Great "downtown" square, Friendly community and friendly people. Great little place to visit for a week(end) getaway.

Thin exterior walls

No one at front desk when we arrived. We had to call someone to let us in (10pm). Is a motor in, we could hear people talking outside each time someone arrived. Smelled musty. maybe request not first floor?

I feel bad writing a negative review, but I will do just that. I generally seek out less expensive lodging when I travel alone for just one night...after all, what does it matter for a night? But in this case I felt that absolutely nothing had been done to upgrade a property that desperately needed something. Carpet was ripped, everything was just way beyond tired. Staff was friendly, but you had to call when you arrived. I thought sure there would be someone at the desk in the morning when I wanted a receipt but no one there. No breakfast, and there was no coffee in my room for the tired coffee maker. I am staying somewhere else on my return trip.
