Room cancelled by hotel 30 minutes before arrival
We arrived after a 3 hour drive from Colombo to find the hotel had emailed 30 minutes earlier to cancel our booking. I was told there was no water or electricity in the room due to an unforeseen maintenance issue. They did at least find us alternative accommodation. Still waiting on being refunded ...

A beautiful Resort, wished we stayed longer to enjoy more of it. The only downside for us was the bar. If you’re offering cocktails, you need staff that know what they are doing. The staff behind the bar had no idea.

Sigiriya Kingdom Gate
Very rural location which meant we were very aware of the noise of village dogs during the night. It is an 8 minute tuktuk ride from the Dambulla bus stand, but only a 600 metre walk to the access to the Dambulla Cave Temples. The bathroom was tired and could do with a significant refresh.
