Some Helpful Things to Know Before You Book
-To help ensure your stay at Black Bear Chateau is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, here are a few details to be aware of before you arrive:
-Access: Guests should be able to safely go up and down two flights of stairs to reach the private entrance to the Chateau. Take your time — you’re on mountain time now.
-Altitude: Colorado Springs sits at an elevation of 6,035 feet above sea level. If you’re visiting from lower elevations, give yourself a little time to adjust and take things slowly on arrival.
-Weather & Travel: The Colorado weather can be full of surprises — summer may bring the occasional hailstorm, while winter often brings snow and ice. During the colder months, we recommend a vehicle with all-wheel or four-wheel drive for peace of mind.
-Your Space: Black Bear Chateau occupies the private, locked-off lower level of a spacious 5,500 sq. ft. home. The host family resides on the upper two levels, but your area is completely private, with your own entrance, sound barriers, and secured access. You can come and go freely, and if you need anything at all, your hosts are just a text away.
