The Heritage Inn, Downtown Chico the Hotel is a total scam, has very misleading and deceitful practices, the most deceitful hotel I have ever booked with through Expedia! I'll be very skeptical about using Expedia anymore, if they have scummy, dishonest hotels like this in their network. The whole thing started after I booked a room through Expedia at 130am 10/17/2025, needing the room immediately, to sleep after driving / travelling all day / night. I needed a standard check in, just late at night and expected to check out at 11am, so I could grab a few hours sleep, very normal expectations. The website specifically said, "welcomes guests with 24 hours reception". So I booked it assuming it would honor its website statements. After booking through the Expedia App,I went to check in at the front desk, and the night clerk said your reservation is for 3pm later today, not right now. I said ok cant you change it for now? He said "sorry I cant do that" I said ok, can you just book me a room with a new transaction, he said "sorry I cant do that either, because, We do not allow guest check ins after 2am" (it was 145am at the latest)! I said is it because you don't have any rooms available? He said "No we have rooms available, I just cant check you in, because the system wont let me book anymore rooms for the night"! Now this is a hotel that boasts a 24 Hour Reception and Welcomes Guests 24 hours a day. They also will not issue Refunds, or changes to a reservation! Avoid!

It was ok, I'd probably not stay there again. The room had a strange smell and the wi-fi didn't work the whole time we were there. Lots of homeless in the area, it's right across from Salvation Army. A couple nice eateries nearby, I recommend the Caribbean BBQ place across the street!

I came over from another hotel that was quite gross. The lady who checked me in was very nice. I has a quiet evening, the room looked like it could use some TLC, but for the price it was good. Got to breakfast a bit late, but still able to snag a bagel.
