Flight Review

Jan 30, 2020

Quite crowded and much too hot during the flight

Jan 4, 2020

Air France makes it easier to have wheel chair assistance than any other airline I fly, so, even though the food is dreadful, I choose Air France whenever possible. Your staff is wonderful!

Amazing experience

Sep 17, 2019

The seats are small for Americans but ok for short flights. Nice crew.

Jun 17, 2019

Tarom still offers a sandwich when many airlines throw peanuts at a passenger.

Jul 17, 2018

The seats we paid for changed twice and then we were assigned seats at boarding in row 27 - not what we wanted. We brought this up to the flight attendant when we boarded and she was very sympathetic and let us sit in the last row of business class - very much appreciated!

What airport is best to fly into Bucharest?

Don't rack up a pricey cab fare to your hotel after jetting into Bucharest. The city features two airports. Look up the flights to both to determine which option best matches your travel plans. Bucharest Airport (BBU-Aurel Vlaicu) is 5 mi from where it's all happening downtown, while Henri Coanda Intl. Airport (OTP) is about 10 mi away.

Places to visit in Bucharest

So much to do and so little time. If you want to discover the best this city has to offer, add Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral, and National Museum of Romanian History to your travel schedule. If you have an extra day, stop by Palace of the Parliament, and Cismigiu Garden as well.

Sports supporters should head to National Arena for an exciting match. Seeking some more options? Kick around a ball with your kids and explore the green spaces at Herastrau Park. You could even bring a simple picnic and make an afternoon of it. But there's more. Set aside time in your busy itinerary and head to Bucharest City Hall. This historic government building is of interest to many visitors.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Bucharest

Your trip to Bucharest begins as soon as you've completed the security checks. We've compiled a list of hints and tips to make sure you get through quickly:

  • Be sure you know the whereabouts of your travel ID and boarding pass. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to present them.
  • It's important to know that metal belt buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you're wearing one, you may be told to place it in a tray before proceeding.
  • All laptops must be removed from their protective cases and placed in a tub before being X-rayed.
  • Flying with your favorite perfume? As long as it contains no more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's placed in a clear resealable plastic bag, you can keep it in your hand luggage.
  • Think about the type of footwear you want to travel in. Slippers are awesome because they're easy to slip out of when you're doing the airport security checks. Try wearing some on your next flight!
  • Pack any multi-tools or other pointy metal items in your checked luggage. Airport security won't permit these in carry-on baggage.

Many hotels in Bucharest will also arrange for a shuttle to pick you up. Taxis are also a great option and Romania has put extensive effort into making sure they are safe for passengers, but make sure to ask about the fare before you enter any cab.
