As you fly into Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and look out the plane's window, the city of Alajuela, Costa Rica, might appear unremarkable. But in many ways it represents the true spirit of Costa Rica. It's a town filled with friendly locals that are steeped in the country's culture. Transportation from SJO
Flights to Alajuela can be long, so the first thing you will want to do is check into a hotel.
