The house was beautifully located. The view from the firepit and deck area was unmatched. The climb down to the river was steep, but we were warned about that in advance and I absolutely recommend the walk down. The portion of the river where the house is located is super flat and smooth, so it was nice for floating around, throwing balls around, and kayaking. The house was super clean and well stocked too. My only issue is that I think it is misrepresented on the website. the "brick room" is not really a bedroom at all - it's a hallway before another bedroom with a tiny bed in it. And the 5th bedroom is just the living room with a pull out couch. So it's really a 3 bedroom house with a few options for people who don't mind crashing on couches. We were all a bunch of dudes on a guy's weekend so we didn't mind, but feel that others should know it's not as roomy as it seems. But overall, it was a great experience and we would stay there again on another guy's weekend or with a small family for sure!

First & foremost, the owner of this home was wonderful. They accomodated us when we needed to make a change & we are very grateful. The home had beautiful views, but unfortauntely the steep walk down to the river was very dangerous & not worth the risk. The home was very clean & cozy. The beds were comfortable as well as the entire atmosphere. Unfortunately, there were not enough towels for our 6 guests & showers should be spaced out per guest due to minimal hot water. The grill worried us when we tried to turn it on. We decided to cook indoors instead, but this could have been a user error on our part, still we didn't want to risk it.I highly recommend staying in this home over a hotel to get the full WV experience. We had a great time.

Host is super responsive, checkin/out was a breeze. We are a group of adventure (biking, hiking, rafting, etc) gals who pick a destination for 4 days/3 nights once a year. I look for a CLEAN, affordable, centrally located VRBO that has multiple bathrooms & bedrooms, a/c, outdoor amenities and a large, well lit common area. This property was PERFECT for us in every regard! It is well appointed with everything we needed. The trail down to the river is steep - we only did it once but nearby HOA beach is great for a lazy river soak. We didn’t feel like we could physically get the kayaks back up the steep bank from the river at the house, so we weren’t able to take advantage of that perk. This house is kid friendly with toys, books etc and a separate area for them to play so the adults can have some peace (we were childless but used the space for the bedroom/bath). We enjoyed coffee and dining al fresco on the fab deck the whole time. We were very happy here. Thanks, Songyee!

Would absolutely recommend this house! It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay including plenty of extra blankets and pillows, all the kitchen supplies, plus books and toys galore to keep the kids entertained while inside! The path to the river from the house could be difficult for some but we enjoyed the kayaks and fishing. We spent an entire day at the private river access which was such an added bonus! We had trouble with a code and the owners got back to us every quickly.

Beautiful views of the river. The house had everything we needed and was plenty big for 8 people. The nature walk down to the river isn’t for the weak hearted but totally doable with some hiking boots. We loved our stay and would do it again.

Charles Town stay for wedding

The interior of the house was beautiful. Excellent and very clean. However, the exterior could use some TLC but it could possibly be because it was spring and it's location. Our only negative was we all found the beds to be uncomfortable.

Comfortable house with a beautiful view

Enjoyed our stay, hosts very easy to deal with. The house was comfortable and we enjoyed the view and the outside spaces and kayaks were a big hit with the fishermen, however access to the river was not ideal for our family of mixed ages requiring a drive to access the water.

Beautiful, comfortable home

Friends and I stayed at this home for a long weekend. Zero complaints. Very good communication with host. Very comfortable beds and living space. Approx 15 minutes to casino and winery. Home is right on the river but be aware that it is a pretty treacherous walk down! However, there was a private beach in the neighborhood we were able to use that was AMAZING. It was absolutely beautiful. Would love to come back sometime

Discovered a gem with this home!!

We’ve never been to West Virginia, and picked this home based on pics and reviews. You always worry when you VRBO that the pics are professionally manipulated or shot just the right way. We can honestly say that this home exceeded our expectations and was a fantastic home base. Got in after 9 hours in the car on Thursday and all the access info was easy and clear. Host checked on us and made sure we didn’t have any questions. Of course we didn’t because the advance part was clear and concise and very descriptive. We were a family of 7, parents and adult children and there was room for all of us. One of the first comments was that there wasn’t a TV in the main living room. Two seconds later, after seeing the view off the deck, the spacious rooms and all that the area had to offer, TV was an afterthought. Made dinner for everyone and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the meal. All slept well. All seven of us commented on the comfort of the beds and the rooms. Up early the next morning and made a huge breakfast for everyone and off we went. We explored and found that everything was close by. Hiking, history, outdoor adventure, or shopping in cool little shops. Followed the recommendations from the hosts and loved them all. The walk down the hill to the river was steep but worth it. Beautiful and serene. We even took out the kayaks and loved it. Cannot say enough about the house. Roomy yet cozy somehow. Book it — you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic mountain retreat close to amazing historical sites

Highly recommend we had a blast. House is very well outfitted and for our 3 couples we each had our own bathroom which is a glorious thing. Beautiful views, three firepits and the lake made the outdoor space just what we needed. The climb back up to the house from the lake is no joke not for the elderly but our group of fifty something’s did ok and it was worth it. I’d recommend and may even see about going back for Harper’s Ferry. Well done Songyee and Jeff we appreciate you.

Perfect getaway spot

A group of friends and I had stayed at this location for a school event for the weekend. The house is located in an adorable, remote area. It had beautiful scenic views and one of the most beautiful ceilings. The owners were amazing as well and made the check in and out process so easy. Their communication was unmatched to any other.
