I recently stayed at The Edwardian Manchester from Sunday to Monday over Valentine’s weekend. While I understand it was a busy period, the initial check in experience was disappointing. The queues were very long and poorly managed. Given the hotel was fully booked, better staffing and organisation should have been in place to handle peak times.
I had requested a double bed but was given two single beds. After waiting again in the long queue, I was told the request could not be accommodated because the booking was made through Expedia and that third party bookings are not prioritised. I found this response unprofessional. Regardless of how a reservation is made, guests should not feel treated differently.
That said, I would like to recognise the Customer Relations Manager and team for resolving the issue professionally. The next morning we were moved and upgraded to an amazing suite. We were also offered complimentary breakfast, drinks and dinner following another small hiccup. The suite was beautiful and the overall property is impressive.
We truly love this hotel and will return, however I strongly recommend improving organisation during busy periods so the arrival experience reflects the hotel’s luxury standards.
