Lovely, intimate historic hotel in walled city

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Santa Alejandria and would definitely return! The price was also excellent and includes made-to-order breakfast each morning. It's an old colonial building and the staff are warm and helpful. The location is excellent, as you can walk to anywhere within the walled city within about 10 minutes, and I felt very safe, as there's a locked gate at the front. I had a couple minor issues with my room--dripping AC, lack of bathroom shelf, etc.--but these were quickly addressed by the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and I had no issues at all with noise from the street. There's a big porch on the 2nd floor with lots of plants so you can sit outside if you'd like.

I always come to Cartegena. I have never stayed at this facility. I was leery at first because the price was so amazing. I couldn’t believe it so I booked it and I will tell you this was such a pleasant experience. I come to Cartegena every 2 to 3 months, I will definitely ensure that I come back to only this hotel and I’m going to bring my family as well. The staff is so understanding and so loving and so sweet—they really are the jewel of this property. This is the most convenient hotel I’ve ever stayed in when I come to Cartegena— it is so close to all of the shops and restaurants and attractions. The breakfast that they make in the morning I’m definitely going to miss as this is my last day here I wish that I could stay longer if only I didn’t have to go to work. It was such a blessing to find this property and again the affordability is unmatched the older reviews mention bedbugs. I did not have any bedbugs whatsoever. In fact, the facility was extremely clean. I read another review that mentioned about the hot water and I would like to add that the hot water is amazing. All you have to do is let it run for about 3 to 4 minutes and it works perfectly fine and stays hot. As a solo female traveler I felt safe and I really loved that they give you a map as soon as you arrive, though I know the city well I thought that was very unique and thoughtful. I chose the option to pay part of the amount through the app and the rest at the hotel. The hotel charged me for everything, including what I had paid through the app, and they gave me no other option than to pay and fix my problem with the app, despite showing the payment receipts.

I had a very nice stay at the hotel. I became dehydrated while I was there and spent a day in bed, feeling like death. The wonderful ladies there got me an electrolyte drink and were very kind.

The first thing that struck me was how friendly and pleasant the staff were at check in. Then how excellently located the hotel is in the Walled City. Room is clean and a good size. There's a common balcony next to my room that is rarely used by guests and is lovely.
