Mawamba Lodge
"We were in room 29, it was spacious and even with screen windows it wasn’t too noisy from people nearby. The hammock on the porch was nice, and we got to see toucans in the tree by our front door. We also saw a huge iguana on the lawn, and a sweet orange cat. The bathroom was also large and clean. The shower did not have a handheld but it was a rain shower and had hot water pretty quickly. The strange wooden rack in the bathroom proved very useful to lay out clothes to try and get them to dry. Which is almost impossible! The tours offered by Mawamba were pretty good, worth their cost - we did the night walk - you go across the river by boat, the canoe tour (great guide named Bryan), and the Jaguar Trail. I’d recommend doing these with guides as you will absolutely miss a lot of animals without them. But also know they can only see so much if the animals aren’t out. The front desk staff was not warm and welcoming but one of them was nice enough. The other was more interested in her cell phone than being helpful to guests. The food at the restaurant was fine. The included breakfast had a made-to-order omelette bar. Bring a poncho for wet adventures! Overall we felt 2 full days and nights was just right!"
