"Staff Great...Hotel Convenient"
The staff is really terrific...knowledgable, helpful, friendly and English is good, too. They were very helpful in getting us started and kept us going to places and things we might not have gone to. Take their bus excursion, I think $50 in cash....better than others. Change money in blue...up the main shopping street there is a small "street Mall" with cameras in the window, go into the mall and there is an exchange room, honest, quick. Gotta have a steak (maybe more than once) we went to Cabrera Norte and it was quite good and we had a great bottle of Malbec..yea lots of people and touristy but so what...Aramburu is really find and jewel, off the beaten path (7 course meal with wine pairings, creative.) super but not cheap , so what! Hotel staff made reservation for everything we did!! We did the tango at Almacen, twas okay...gotta do it but we didn't want the Broadway production...gave us the flavor and fun. Lots of walking, it's that kinda town....little Paris or NYC, I guess, but it's fun to just explore...lots of surprises....enjoy!

"A Hidden Gem within BA's Coolest Neighborhood - Best Value hands down"
What a great experience! We were pampered from top to bottom. Check in took approximately 3 minutes when we arrived. Complimentary bottle of wine, water and fruit waiting for us in the brand new, super well appointed room (and I am PICKY!). The staff could not be nicer and more helpful. They constantly went out of their way to do anything we requested, and often to preempted our needs. It was like an Ian Schrager boutique hotel meets the Four Seasons. The rooms are very well appointed, modern, clean bright and airy. The beds and pillows are super comfortable (and this is coming from someone who is like the princess in the "Princess and the Pea"). There is a kitchenette, and fridge... not that we ever used it, but it was nice to know it's there. In reality, the portions in all the restaurants are so huge that it's nice to know that you can bring home the left overs, keep them in the fridge and then microwave them when you're ready. There is Direct TV, which is super rare in foreign countries, where most hotels lack even one English speaking channel, much less all the ones we like. Can't say we watched much TV, but again, it was nice to hear something familiar as we were getting ready to go out or falling asleep. There is also free Wi-Fi, a sun deck, and a great gym on the premises. There is no restaurant in the hotel, which I thought was a negative at first. However, they give you a voucher to eat breakfast at one of the many great restaurants within 1-2 blocks. In the end, we liked this option better, as we got to try a number of different things vs eat the same breakfast in the same room every morning. Fantastic attention to details. Oversized fluffy towels; powerful hairdryer; lots of hangers/drawers; good lighting (especially in the bathroom, which is rare, but very important, as make up applications in the dark never turn out well); nice quality shampoos; super comfy pillows and nice bedding (seriously, I can't say enough good things about the beds there!); super dark black out curtains. Finally, the neighborhood. The hotel is very central, close to subway stations and taxis (which are super cheap) are abundant. Moreover, there are tons of bars, great restaurants, shopping and just about anything else you need within walking distance. In fact, you may not even want to leave the neighborhood. Overall, I thought that the value was one of the best in Argentina. I am actually surprised that this place is as inexpensive as it is. I think they can probably charge double and get away with it. I recommend you go quickly, before the owners catch on.

"I want to move in."
I'm told this is rated as the world's 9th best hotel. If that's true, I'm not sure I want to see the top 8. There are some, probably, more lavish and certainly newer, but from its location in the midst of Recoleta to its architecture to the incredible attention to detail at every level, the Alvear Palace is nothing short of superb. My wife and I splurged, and got a "deluxe premier" (sounds like linguistic overkill, I grant) one-bedroom suite. Perfect, from the extra powder room to the butler service, to the immaculate condition of the room, to the incredibly comfortable bed. The reception and concierge staff are friendly, skilled, helpful. Food and drink was excellent. Prices are high, sometimes shockingly so, but next trip to BA, I know where we are staying. We were there four nights and treated like honored guests the entire time.
