Booked for a weekend away and chose for location and looked nice on the pictures. On arrival staff were great on check in. Unfortunately after this it was very disappointing. Room was not nice at all !! As soon as you walked in there was a strong smell of damp, mold & must. Couldn’t open the window to let in fresh air as pigeons / seagulls tried to get in. Shower was leaking. There was a dirty bath Matt with stains all over it. We chose not complain & change rooms as only staying for 2 nights & spent limited time in the room. Definitely would not stay again.

The Ship is in a good location with the benifits of some parking if it is available. The staff were okay they just did the job required but without any enthusiasm! However, the bed was very comfortable and the room nice and large. The hotel lets itself down as the bathroom is in desperate need of a refurbishment!!! So this unfortunately spoilt our stay.

We had an upgrade which was appreciated. We enjoyed our seaview.Everyone on the staff were helpful and pleasant. Very close to all eateries,local bars etc . We liked the traditional feel of the hotel.

For a short stay the old ship hotel was okay. It is very apparent the hotel is very very old and is severely showing its age. It's not 5x but for the price & seafront location and overnight stay was adequate. Checkin was simple and stress free.

The Old Ship

Loved the hotel. It has lots if original features and is a beautiful old building. The staff at reception were friendly and welcoming and kindly let us leave our bags before check-in time. I can't stress enough how helpful that was - my bag was very heavy. I would definitely choose The Old Ship again for a visit to Brighton.

Lovely stay

Always stay at the Old Ship when I come to Brighton. The room was lovely and spacious but decor old and tired. Room was clean but the bathroom had a problem with small flies. The bed was very comfortable. Great location.

We were given a room in the roof space, it was unbearably hot, sometimes this is unavoidable, but there was no working tap for drinking water, only the hot worked. In the morning we woke early bought some water nearby and went for a very dehydrated run along the sea front, on our return we were disappointed to find that there was now no hot water for a shower. Maybe the other guests had drunk it all in desperation.. we have reported all this to reception and perhaps the most disappointing thing is that there has been no response or apology from the management..

The place needs a major makeover and mornisation. The lobby looks good on the surface, but the place deteriorates as you go up each floor. Our rooms were on the fourth floor! The guy who checked us in was supercilious and not at all welcoming. Bar and restaurant staff all too busy to care about the customers. Everything felt grubby.

A lovely hotel.

The Old Ship is a lovely hotel. The room was very nice and the bed comfortable. It was hot and too noisy to have the windows open but the room had a ceiling fan which was remarkably effective. The breakfast was lovely and my veggie dishes had to be ordered especially but came super quick. My only moan is that in the room we only had 4 teabags and 4 pots of milk. No herbal tea.
