Surprised at the price

Pros: Close restaurants
This was the cheapest hotel I could find in Bakersfield (except for the motel 6 types) and it was very nice. Restaurant by lobby, small indoor pool and the rooms were nice and comfortable. I would stay here again

Great place for families!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, indoor pool
A friend and I stayed here with our 4 children (ages 1 through 4), as it was a great half-way point between Northern and Southern California. (It's right off of Hwy 99.) We got a 1-bedroom suite, and it had plenty of space and privacy for all of us to feel comfortable. The kitchenette (medium fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink) made feeding little ones easy and convenient. The bathroom and bedroom both have separate entrances and doors from the main living area, keeping sleep time and bath time easy and uninterrupted for other family members. In addition, the indoor, heated pool was fantastic! We didn't use the gym area, but it was very clean and reasonably sized. We opted for the included breakfast voucher, and the onsite restaurant was good and extremely convenient. Each of the booth tables is equipped with a TV, and 2 kids eat FREE with a paying adult. The restaurant also has a full bar and serves lunch and dinner if you don't want to leave the hotel. There are dozens of other places to eat within a 1/2 mile of the hotel, and Costco is located across the main road, which was great for gas fill-up! I will note that the walls are not sound-proof, but the noise from adjacent rooms is bearable. And...while the regular beds are quite comfortable, the pull-out sofa is not! (though I think that's always the case...) The staff was warm and welcoming (we had pleasant experiences with the front desk, housekeeping, and the restaurant staff). We'd definitely stay here again!

The facilities were great, but staff aren't as friendly as other Holiday Inns.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
I wonder if the service wasn't as good because we booked through a 3rd party. We stayed at other Holiday Inn Express along the trip and had much better service. This one had a good, but rather expensive restaurant, but the others all had an included breakfast.

Nice, quiet, comfy new motel

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, easy access
Cons: poor service
This Holiday Inn was new and comfortable. Room was nice and the bed was comfy. Lacked in-room refrigerator which would have been handy. Off the freeway enough so it was quiet but easy on and off the freeway too. Only complaint was service in the restaurant and lounge. We had a nice dinner but the waitress kept disappearing. She forgot our drinks so we had to go to t eh lounge and get them, and then disappeared when we wanted our check and we had to hunt her down. Bartender kept disappearing as well. Otherwise I would recommend it and stay again.

Nice Hotel!

The Hotel room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I like the fact that it is a fairly new Hotel, and not far from getting on to the major highway. I had room service for breakfast and the food was great, and the service was very good. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice for the price

After viewing the cost for most San Francisco hotels, I thought this was probably too good to be true. Good reviews and about 1/2 the cost. As it turned out, it was a comfortable spot in a great location. Nothing special but clean and very comfortable! The continental breakfast was a disappointment, just cereal, rolls and coffee. We prefer some fruit and at least orange juice, but again, for the price, we hadn't expected much so it was sufficient. Very friendly staff and overall a quiet, comfortable experience!

Just what we needed!

My elderly parents and I traveled to Bakersfield for a one night visit to attend a family reunion. This was our first experience with a Holiday Inn. It was very quiet since we stayed on a Saturday night and this is a weekday business hotel. The entire hotel had been remodeled within the last year. The rooms and bathrooms were nice. All upgrades--new bedding, large modern TV and many towels provided. We didn't use any services except the breakfast. Breakfast was ordered and served at our table. It was adequate--nothing special. We were surprised to see that none of the surrounding tables had been bussed even though there was only one other table in the restaurant. I was half an hour before the end of service, but it still was not professional. Also, my parents like to read after dinner and there was only one bedside lamp in the room. After speaking to the front desk, a more adequate lamp was brought to our room. All in all, the stay was pleasant, the value was good and we would stay again.

Nice Suite

We booked the Executive King Suite so we had a place for our small children to sleep while the adults were awake. The suite was larger than we expected with a door that closed to the bedroom. The living area was roughly twice the size of the bedrooom with a pullout couch. Kitchenette consisted of a coffeemaker, sink, microwave, and mini fridge... adequate for a hotel, but no gourmet meals being cooked here. Overall very nice and very big for the price, would definitely stay again.

We loved it

We recently stayed at this hotel and were very happy with the accomodations. We had a suite and it was comfortable and clean. The linens were nice and they had a fitted bottom sheet, something that has been going the way of the hoop skirt lately. They also had a nice selection of pillows that were identified as soft or hard. The bathroom amenities were also of a nice quality. We visit family in the area several times a year and will be going back. The breakfast was also very good and the service fast.

The New Hotel In Bako

On my recent trip thru California I had the chance to stay at this hotel. They were newly opened and I have to say I was very impressed with how well trained the staff was. I was expecting slow service but never received it. The resteraunt was Fantastic! The food was way better than I'd expected and the service was better too. THis hotel was new and clean and the staff was very upbeat. I'd definately recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Bakersfield!
