2/10 Terrible

I paid for a four day stay for my parents through Travelosity who were visiting us from Chicago for the first time in 13 years and were excited to be staying at The Battery Area hotel.
That explained, I couldn’t have been more embarrassed and disappointed at this hotel. For this hotel to be in such a preferred tourist and locally popular location, it’s a shame the way it is presented…
The first thing that hits you is the moldy smell when you walk in.
The second thing is the beat-up furniture and guest elevators.
The third is while riding the glass elevators you noticeably see all the stains on the atrium walls as you ride up.
We then got to the room (hallways are all marked up too) and immediately noticed the room wasn’t clean to our expectations as there was food wrappers on the floor that assumably belonged to previous guests, which then made us suspect the sheets and other things weren’t cleaned with care and attention either.
With all that having been experienced, my folks insisted on staying there because I had already prepaid for their stay. This changed when later that evening they called and told me the hot water wasn’t working in their shower for some reason.
I ended up checking them in at the Embassy Galleria hotel that very evening which was a much better experience - however I wasn’t able to get a refund because the stay at the Double Tree was booked through Travelocity - so basically I paid for four days at a terrible hotel that we never stayed in.
