"This is a quirky hotel, centrally located in Astoria, which is a sweet kind of frontier feeling town right on the mouth of the Columbia River. The staff is friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself could use some updating. If you like boxy, chain hotels that are cookie cutter from town to town, this is not the hotel for you. Hotel Elliot has a certain charm, and we enjoyed our three night stay. There is a lovely roof deck with glass barriers to cut down on the wind, and it's a great place to watch the sunset, or check out the town's landmarks like the Column up on the hill, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and the barges in the river. The room was a bit tight, the bed was very comfortable, and we had what we needed other than a refrigerator to keep food and wine cool. We really appreciated the location, which is a quick walk to many good restaurants, breweries, pubs, and bars."
