"I have nothing critical to say about this resort. Staff were awesome. Love this place. Tua at the pool bar was excellent. Antonio was also very good. He went out of his way to help with our luggage at arrival and especially departure. My apologies for not remembering the name of the very nice lady who helped me at check out. She explained everything well and was very friendly. All of the staff here and at their other resort were extremely hospitable. Keep up the great work. First trip to San Pedro. The people of Belize are very honorable and friendly."

"Everything 10/10!! Wonderful staff - all friendly and so helpful. Fantastic room which was kept extremely clean and tidy by the awesome cleaning and turn down staff. The A/C kept the room consistently cool and comfy too! The amenities and resort overall were beautiful! Matachica has a very calm and peaceful vibe. I can’t recommend it enough! (Especially for a honeymoon or extra special trip of a different sort) The excursions offered at the resort are exceptional and run by the staff at the resort. They are convenient and reasonably priced. If there is anything else you want to do that they don’t offer, they are extremely helpful in getting things setup to make sure you see whatever you want! The sargassum is expected at this time of year but they had a crew working tirelessly all day to keep the beaches from filling up with weeds. The hard work done by the crew made a huge difference and the smell overall was very minimal throughout our 8 day stay. Exceptional experience at Matachica!!"

The sargassum was bad while we were there. The poor maintenance guys were fighting a Sisyphean battle to keep the beach clean. The food at Pineapples is fine, but not noteworthy. Service at restaurant is friendly, but food service is very slow, even when not busy. The Sunday buffet was a disappointment, but not expensive. Stayed in a beachside thatched roof unit that was clean (mostly, the beveled sink in the bathroom had thick sticky scum all around it). It was roomy and well laid out and had a nice balcony overlooking the ocean. It was very windy while we were there and small bits of something fell from the thatch all over the place. Also, assuming due to the wind, the AC could not keep up and it was uncomfortably hot in the room. It wasn't as windy the first 4 nights and temp was fine. The last two were pretty uncomfortable. We did a full day Caye Caulker snorkel and had a great time. This was actually the highlight of our stay. Sammy was our guide. He was engaging, knowledgeable and funny. He was in the water with us and was very attentive to our safety. The boat was large and it was comfortable despite the considerable chop from the wind. Resort was perfect location during lobsterfest, with great restaurants and the block party all within walking distance."
