Beluga Lake Lodge
"Let me start with check-in. I obviously went in the wrong door. The one I thought would be the office as it was on the front (street-facing) side. After wandering around for a bit (no signs, of course), I found the desk. I stood quietly at the desk for a bit when the man behind the desk "greeted" me with, "What do you want?" It wound up that the very nice lady who was in charge had her son working for her. It was he who couldn't be bothered to help. Not a great first impression. The room was fine--nothing special. Of everywhere we stayed, this one just blurs--I honestly can't remember one thing about it. This suggests that it was acceptable. The location was good, not within walking distance of anything, but basically half-way between town and the "Spit" that makes Homer so unique. Do I recommend it? Sure, with a bit of warning--the office is on the BACK side of the motel and there is no elevator but apparently plenty of 1st floor rooms. I hesitate to lower a rating too much based on one initial experience. The manager is truly a lovely person. I just got her son on a particularly bad day."
